According to actor Benjamin Walker, Lord of the Rings fans would be wise to not seek out spoilers for the new Amazon TV show. It's been about four years since Amazon first announced the TV series. While plot details have been kept under lock and key, reports have already shed light on the Amazon show surpassing the original trilogy's budget.

Based on the best-selling novels written by J.R.R. Tolkein, visionary Peter Jackson brought the Lord of the Rings to life in a trilogy of films that were released in the early 2000s. Praised for their innovative special effects, acting, musical score, and emotional depth, the trio of movies are widely regarded as one of the greatest film series ever made. The series would go on to win seventeen Academy Awards, as well as numerous other nominations. The movies are so beloved that fans still continue to dress up as their favorite Lord of the Rings characters to this day. So, it stands to reason that eager fans waiting for the new Amazon show may feel tempted to seek out as much information about it as possible, which according to one LOTR star, may not be wise.

During an interview with Collider, when asked to divulge the plot of the Amazon Lord of the Rings TV show, Walker warns that fans should be wary about seeking out spoilers for the new series. He says that while he usually finds it annoying when a production is tight-lipped, in the case of the new LOTR show, he agrees with that decision. Based on the size and scope of the project, Walker insists that fans will be glad they knew so little when they finally get to see it. View Walker's full quote below:

I really can't say a lot, and here's the thing. It's usually annoying when they tell you not to talk about it. On this one I kind of agree with them. Because there's so much attention and because so much happens, it's important that we do protect it. So I really can't say a lot, other than you will be glad you knew so little when you see it.

With the high profile nature of the new Amazon Lord of the Rings series, news outlets and forum boards are bound to leak with new information about the project. In fact, fans are already petitioning the new LOTR show to keep nudity out based on a leak of info from a casting notice. Impatient fans are the number one reason that Amazon is keeping details about the project guarded by the magic Doors of Durin, which even includes the release date. Touting a hefty budget of over $500 million, Amazon's new series could end up being the most expensive TV show of all time, which can only add another layer of anticipation for devoted fans.

Contrary to what filmmaker James Gunn may think about spoilers, with a series as beloved as the Lord of the Rings, Walker feels that fans will have a better experience if they go into the new Amazon show fresh. In many cases, eager fans have a habit of seeking out as much info about an upcoming project as possible that it ends up actually hurting their viewing experience. Sometimes it's better to wait patiently and turn a blind eye to spoilers.
