Both The Lord Of The Rings and The Hunger Games are incredibly popular franchises that certainly have a lot of similarities in terms of the action and abilities that the characters have. The members of the Fellowship are all completely different characters, yet they all have clear skills that define them.

The group getting thrown into The Hunger Games itself would actually be a perfect fit. With each character having different abilities in terms of their fighting and their personalities, they would be a fun group to see compete inside of the games. While they may work together within Middle Earth if they were placed into Panem's annual competition, who would walk out the victor?

Peregrin Took

Someone has to be the first to fall within every Hunger Games, and when it comes to those within the Fellowship, it would be Pippin that goes down first. The Hobbits are obviously at a clear disadvantage in terms of their fighting ability within this competition, but even then, the other three would do better than Pippin.

While he does prove himself to be quite an impressive climber, and he certainly grows in confidence during the journey, out of all the characters, Pippin is the one who is still very scared at the end and never shows much fighting ability. He would likely go wandering off for a second breakfast and get caught out fairly early on.

Merry Brandybuck

Shortly behind Pippin, his best friend Merry likely wouldn't be far behind on the kill list. Much like Pippin, Merry can be quite gormless, which could lead to him drawing attention to himself which would make him an easy target straight away.

Merry and Pippin would probably be together throughout the games, deciding to work as a team due to their friendship. Because of that, he would be killed shortly after Pippin. However, because Merry has a little more bravery and fighting ability, he would last a touch longer.

Samwise Gamgee

Samwise Gamgee certainly wouldn't be able to win the Hunger Games, despite his best efforts, however, he wouldn't go down without a fight, and he wouldn't be the first either. Samwise isn't a trained fighter, but he always tries his best and is smart enough to learn and adapt to any situation, as he proves throughout The Lord Of The Rings.

Sam is able to take control of a situation and really assess what the right decision would be, and those skills would likely serve him well within this setting. That is why he would survive for a while, only to be taken out in a heartbreaking fashion.

Gimli

Gimli has got a lot of things going in his favor that could potentially see him do very well within the Hunger Games. He's very strong, powerful, and he's an incredible fighter who has no problem killing anybody and everybody that gets in his path.

However, while that would certainly serve him well, Gimli also has a lot going against him as well. He's very slow, which would make running away from the various tricks that the game makers put in very tough, and he is also very loud, which would only draw huge attention to him.

Frodo Baggins

Frodo Baggins would certainly be an underdog inside the games, in a similar manner to Rue. However, just like her, Frodo is a survivor and someone who is always able to upset the odds, no matter what is stacked against him, due to his brave heart and hardworking ability.

With the One Ring in his pocket, Frodo could hide and sneak around for safety. Plus, Hobbits are very quiet people and are light on their feet, which would really help him avoid confrontation and would ultimately be crucial. However, in the end, Frodo wouldn't be able to make it to the end, as he simply isn't a good enough fighter.

Boromir

Boromir

Boromir is the type of character that would start the games on the attack, showing his aggression and skill early on to take out as many tributes as he could get his hands on. Confidence isn't something that Boromir is short on, and there's no denying he is a brilliant fighter.

Boromir would be quite similar to Cato in that regard, and he would probably end up having the highest kill count of anybody in the games. However, his arrogance would be Boromir's demise, as he wouldn't be as stealthy or as cunning as some of the other members of the Fellowship.

Legolas

Orlando Bloom as Legolas Greenleaf in The Two Towers.

Legolas would certainly be a real threat within the Hunger Games, just as Katniss Everdeen was with her trusty bow and arrow. However, even the Mockingjay herself cannot hold a candle to the incredible pinpoint accuracy that Legolas displays with his weapon of choice.

If Legolas spots someone, the chances are, he will kill them. Legolas is very agile and athletic, which would make it easy for him to get around, and his ability to track and strong senses would certainly give him a great chance against anybody. However, while he's strong with a bow and arrow, in up-close combat, there are a few stronger characters who are just as wise as him that would have the upper hand.

Gandalf

Gandalf

When it comes to the Fellowship being placed into the annual Hunger Games, there is no doubt that Gandalf would have to be considered a favorite. He's a very wise character who has the benefit of experience due to his age. He would be well aware of any possible tricks that the game makers were wanting to pull on him, and he would know how to survive within any situation.

Being able to use magic is obviously a big bonus for him, and Gandalf is a skilled fighter as well, which he proves throughout The Lord Of The Rings franchise. However, his age may catch up with him against the eventual winner, plus, he cannot call upon his trusted Eagles to get him to safety in this situation, taking away the big ace up his sleeve.

Aragorn

Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn

In the end, a battle between the Fellowship would always lead to the eventual king being the man who would be victorious. Aragorn is the most highly skilled fighter out of all these characters, and in a competition that is a fight to the death, a last man standing, that would serve him pretty well.

He could fight off any tribute that came in his way, and as someone who worked as a lone ranger for a very long time, Aragorn has no problem in being alone. His ability to track and hunt would make it easy for him to know where people are hiding, to pick them off one by one until he was the winner.
