Here's every character appearing in HBO Max's Looney Tunes Cartoons. The animated shorts that date all the way back to the 1930s turned characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck into cartoon icons, and the new series is poised to bring them back to their roots. Over the years, they've starred in numerous shows, but Looney Tunes shorts haven't been made regularly since the 1970s, and HBO Max's Looney Tunes Cartoons will serve as a proper revival.

In 2018, it was reported that Warner Bros. had a plan in place to bring back Looney Tunes. Warner Bros. ordered 1,000 minutes of Looney Tunes shorts that would be released on multiple platforms. It was said that the shorts would be both written and drawn by the cartoonists. The idea behind the revival was that the characters would go back to the sorts of gags that were used in their early days, with some characters going back to their older designs. Some of these shorts have already been screened at film festivals, and so far, reception has been positive. Later, it was announced that the new Looney Tunes Cartoons had found a home at the upcoming streaming service, HBO Max.

Looney Tunes Cartoons will be one of the few original shows available on HBO Max when the service launches on May 27. A trailer for the series has already been revealed, previewing many of the characters that will appear in the shorts. Here's every character confirmed to make an appearance in HBO Max's Looney Tunes revival.

Bugs Bunny

Bugs Bunny, the protagonist of countless Looney Tunes shorts and an official mascot of Warner Bros. for decades, will star in several of the new shorts, including "Mummy Dummy", "Basket Bugs", "Arm Wrestling Championship", and more. Once again voiced by Eric Bauza, Bugs Bunny retains the same personality that made him such a popular figure in the cartoon industry. One thing that will be different about Bugs in the new shorts is that Bugs will have yellow gloves. The white gloves are an important part of his image, but the yellow gloves are not new. He actually wore them in the 1941 short, "Elmer's Pet Rabbit".

Daffy Duck

A Looney Tunes revival wouldn't be complete without Daffy Duck, who is Bugs Bunny's best friend, or perhaps a better to describe their relationship is "frenemies". Though they often travel together on their adventures, Daffy is always quick to sell out Bugs either to satisfy his greed or for the purpose of self-preservation. The trailer for the new series indicates that it's sending Daffy back to the era where he was much wackier and less reserved than how he's depicted in modern cartoons.

Sylvester & Tweety Bird

The Academy Award-winning duo of Sylvester the Cat and Tweety Bird will be back for more animated escapades, including the short, "Pain in the Ice". Sylvester, now with yellow eyes instead of white, is seen back to his old tricks in the trailer, trying - and failing - to catch the elusive Tweety Bird, who always manages to outwit him.

Wile E. Coyote & Roadrunner

Another Looney Tunes duo known for their cat-and-mouse adventures, Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner, are returning as well. It's highly likely that a number of shorts will be dedicated to Wile E. Coyote's schemes, as he struggles in vain to get his hands on the Roadrunner.

Porky Pig

Porky Pig, complete with his trademark stutter, will appear alongside Daffy Duck in at least two shorts. The two appeared together multiple times in the past, usually with Daffy being an annoyance to Porky in one way or another. Though usually seen with Daffy, Porky has also been paired with Sylvester on occasion.

Yosemite Sam

One of Bugs Bunny's two biggest antagonists, Yosemite Sam, will return as a villain in Looney Tunes Cartoons. The trailer reveals a scene where Bugs Bunny tickles Sam, causing him to lose an arm wrestling match.

Elmer Fudd

Elmer Fudd

Elmer Fudd, the hunter who has never been very fortunate when hunting Bugs Bunny, was featured in the first Looney Tunes short, "Dynamite Dance", which has already been released to the public. In the short, Elmer Fudd pursues Bugs Bunny, who evades him in classic Looney Tunes fashion. Elmer will also appear in several other shorts.

Marvin the Martian

The trailer provides a glimpse of Marvin the Martian trying to claim a planet in the name of Mars, but the planet seems to have a life of its own. Marvin is a fan-favorite Looney Tunes villain who has often found himself at odds with Bugs Bunny, but like Sam and Elmer, he always come up short.

Taz

Artwork for the series confirms that the Tasmanian Devil -- nicknamed "Taz" -- will have a role in HBO Max's Looney Tunes Cartoons (via Twitter). The wild, uncontrollable beast has a reputation for eating anything and everything in sight.

Foghorn Leghorn

An image of a Looney Tunes Cartoons crew shirt confirmed that the rooster, Foghorn Leghorn, would appear in the series (via Twitter). With Foghorn being in the shorts, there's a good possibility that he'll be joined by his opponents from the classic cartoons, Henery Hawk and the Dog.

Other Supporting Characters

Through artwork, official details from the creators, the trailer, and the Looney Tunes Cartoons crew shirt, a long list of supporting and miscellaneous characters have been confirmed for the series. This includes Tweety Bird's owner, Granny, the giant red monster Gossamer, the seemingly innocent but deceptive Cecil Turtle, Sam the Sheepdog, and more:

  • Granny
  • Gossamer
  • Sam the Sheepdog
  • The Gas-House Gorillas
  • Hubie & Bertie
  • Beaky Buzzard
  • Cecil Turtle
  • Gremlin
  • Petunia Pig (Porky's love interest)
  • Cicero Pig (Porky's nephew)

At this point, nearly all of the major Looney Tunes characters will have roles in the new shorts. However, even though Warner Bros. is bringing back an impressive number of fan-favorites and lesser-known characters, there's still a few that haven't been revealed. So far, the two biggest characters that haven't been seen yet are Pepé Le Pew and Speedy Gonzalez, but since Warner Bros. seems intent on appealing to nostalgia and giving screen time to even the most obscure characters, it would be a huge surprise if they weren't included.
