With the spike in gas prices in 2022, there has been renewed emphasis on the development and purchasing of electric vehicles. Not only is it currently a much cheaper option fuel-wise, but they also greatly reduce the negative impact that driving has on the environment.

One area where electric vehicles have consistently lagged behind their gas counterparts, however, is in range. Manufacturers are constantly looking to improve the distance that these vehicles can go in order to compete with gas, and the recent results show vast improvement. From Tesla to Ford, many car companies are increasingly getting more and more miles out of their electric batteries in one charge.

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 RWD - 314 Miles

The long-time automobile manufacturer out of Detroit, Michigan, Ford has recently looked to get into the electric vehicle game, debuting an electric successor to their long line of Mustang models in 2021. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the second installment of the model, and has an EPA-estimated range of 314 miles.

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E has been so popular among buyers this year that it currently is unavailable for retail order, according to their site. Fortunately, new buyers won't have to wait too long until the 2023 model goes on sale, and interested customers can sign up to be notified when the new model debuts.

2022 Rivian R1S - 316 Miles

Rivian is a newly minted automobile company with only two models currently on the market. One of these is the 2022 Rivian R1S, a model that is advertised as being an adventure car, with all-terrain tires available, as well as an off-road driving mode option for drivers.

This adventure model also has a fairly significant range, with the EPA estimation being 316 miles. This long range means that adventurers looking to go more environmentally friendly can rely on the 2022 Rivian R1S without worrying about being stranded during an outing.

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning 4WD Extended Range - 320 Miles

The highly anticipated electric remake of Ford's truck line is here, and its range is much better than what was expected thanks to an "extended range" option being provided by Ford. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning 4WD Extended Range has an EPA-estimated driving range of 320 miles, the longest out of any electric truck on the market.

Similar to its fellow electric Ford, the Mustang Mach-E, the F-150 Lightning inventory has been cleaned out, and is not available for purchase. This means that any perspective buyer will need to wait until the 2023 model goes on sale to get their hands on Ford's electric truck.

2022 BMW iX - 324 Miles

German car manufacturer BMW has long been noted for its quality sports vehicles, and the BMW iX can be added to the list. With the longest range requiring buyers to get the 20-inch, the BMW iX has an EPA-estimated maximum range of 324 miles.

One of the BMW iX's most impressive features outside its range is the inclusion of the Flexible Fast Charger. This allows drivers to charge their car anywhere they have access to a 120V or 240V outlet, making charging a lot more convenient for owners.

2022 Tesla Model Y - 330 Miles

One of the electric vehicle giant's many models, the Tesla Model Y is the latest model to hit the market, with the first iteration being sold in 2020. The only crossover of the Tesla models available, the Model Y also has the lowest range of the four, EPA-estimated at 330 miles.

While it has the lowest range of the Tesla electric vehicles available, the Model Y still boasts the longest range of any electric crossover on the market. To get the longest however, buyers will need to get the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD, as opposed to the original.

2022 Tesla Model X - 348 Miles

First developed by Tesla in 2015, the Model X is the electric car company's second-oldest model, only behind the Model S. The 2022 model features the signature falcon-wing rear doors and has an EPA-estimated 348-mile range.

Outside of its range, the 2022 Tesla Model X also boasts the most storage space out of any electric SUV on the market. It also has the seating capacity of up to seven adults, making it the longest-ranged electric vehicle that can seat seven people.

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS - 350 Miles

Mercedes-Benz is a newer player to the electric vehicle game, with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS being the first of its kind to be released from the German manufacturer. The flagship model has an impressive debut range, being able to go an EPA-estimated 350 miles on one charge.

With the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS, the German car company brings its famous luxury to the electric stage. They offer two variations of the electric vehicle, with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 Plus having the better range, peaking at 350 miles.

2022 Tesla Model 3 - 358 Miles

The third Tesla model to debut from the electric vehicle company, the Model 3 has the second-longest range of any vehicle produced by the American automobile manufacturer, with the 2022 Tesla Model 3 boasting an EPA-estimated range of 358 miles.

The Model 3 was marketed as being a more affordable electric vehicle, and has widely benefited from that description. The 2022 long range model starts at around $56,000 according to Kelley Blue Book, making it the cheapest of the four Tesla models on the market.

2022 Tesla Model S - 405 Miles

The original model that was first debuted by Tesla in 2012, the Model S continues to be Tesla's premiere model. The 2022 Tesla Model S has the longest range of any Tesla on the market, being able to run an EPA-estimated 405 miles on one charge.

In addition to its extensive range and the cool updates Teslas have gotten in 2022, the 2022 Tesla Model S also has the quickest acceleration of any model that the automobile manufacturer offers—it is able to go from zero to 60 mph in less than two seconds.

2022 Lucid Air - 520 Miles

Lucid was founded with the intent to create and produce all-electric luxury vehicles that perform exceptionally. With their debut electric vehicle the 2022 Lucid Air, they have reached this goal. The flagship car has an EPA-estimated range of a whopping 520 miles.

With a range that is at least 100 miles more than any other electric vehicle on the market, the 2022 Lucid Air is the clear choice for buyers who want range. While only the Dream R AWD with 19-inch wheels can reach this maximum range, every other variation of the Air has a longer range than every other electric car on the market.
