The newest League of Legends champion is on its way, with Gwen being teased as the 155th character to be added to the game. This newest reveal links Gwen to the latest League of Legends champion release, Viego, also known as the Ruined King. This follows the season-long trend of releasing champions and hosting in-game events related to the "Ruination" an event showcased in a cinematic teased earlier this year.

League of Legends has continued to thrive thanks to its constant content updates. Champion releases like Gwen and Viego are often commemorated with cinematic trailers like the one recently released by Riot Games. While there are no details given regarding Gwen's in-game kit or any of her abilities, the release of a trailer confirms that players will get their hands on her soon.

After releasing the cinematic trailer, League of Legends also dropped the first hints about Gwen's abilities, though the details still remain unknown. League of Legends champion abilities are all unique, so players are often dissecting gameplay trailers for clues. This trailer shows Gwen wielding a pair of scissors and snipping through an enemy Riven in the top lane. Gwen also appears to have some sort of area surrounding her that empowers her, like a moving version of Camille's ultimate ability. She also stabs forward with her scissors, which comes with a short dash, and can throw her scissors in a lined skill shot. It's unclear which of these effects correspond to which abilities, but it's nice to get a glimpse of her playstyle, which looks like a fairly nimble fighter.

At the start of the season, Riot teased several new champions that would be coming in Season 11, along with the reveal of Viego. Among those were an AP fighter that Riot described as "tailor-made" for the top lane position. With the confirmation that all of the champions would be related to Viego and the Shadow Isles, many players speculated this would be Viego's wife, Isolde. This trailer from League of Legends seems to imply that Gwen will embody the soul of Isolde in some manner, which is a great way to subvert player expectations. From the gameplay shown, though, Gwen appears to be a combination of Isolde and the doll.

While the details of Isolde's kit are still unknown, League of Legends players are sure to begin speculating as to her role in the game. Players are already taking note of her unique aesthetic and the fact that she appears to be one of the few British champions in the game (or at least, champions with a British accent). For now, Gwen remains locked away in that box, waiting for her chance to spring forth and "sew" some discontent to her enemies.
