Loki star Sophia Di Martino has become the most popular actor on IMDb. Just like its Disney+ predecessors, WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki has been one of the most popular streaming shows since its premiere early last month. With each week, the Tom Hiddleston-led series has repeatedly defied expectations and strayed further away from the MCU’s established model. With only two episodes left, there is still a lot to unravel regarding Loki’s run-in with the TVA and his relationship with Lady Loki, also known as Sylvie.

Played by Sophia Di Martino, Sylvie has been one of Loki’s most welcome additions to the MCU. First introduced as a Loki variant attacking the Sacred Timeline, after episodes 2 and 3 it became clear there was much more to the character than meets the eye. First off, she does not consider herself to be a Loki and has a completely different backstory and abilities. Sylvie’s powers of enchantment have led fans to theorize she is actually Sylvie Lushton’s Enchantress, though she appears to be an amalgam of a few different characters from the comics. Nevertheless, Sylvie has been a hit amongst fans and Di Martino’s increased popularity is proof of that.

Due to her portrayal of Sylvie on Loki, Sophia Di Martino has jumped all the way up to the number one spot on IMDb’s STARmeter, a list that tracks the popularity of actors. Joining Di Martino in the top 5 is Tom Hiddleston at number 4. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is right behind them at the eleventh spot for her role as Judge Renslayer. Other Loki stars appearing in the top 100 spots include Sasha Lane (Hunter C-20) at 23, who is surprisingly above Owen Wilson (Mobius) at 50. Tara Strong (Miss Minutes), who doesn't even appear on screen, is on the list at number 92.

Loki and Sylvie in Loki

Sophia Di Martino shooting up to the number one spot on IMDb’s STARmeter is a real testament to how Marvel can cast a relatively unknown actor and launch them into immediate stardom by way of the MCU. Look no further than Di Martino’s Loki co-star Tom Hiddleston, whose breakthrough as Marvel's trickster came in 2011’s Thor, granting him popularity that has lasted over a decade.

Other MCU stalwarts such as Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland went from being relatively unknown to American audiences to some of the biggest names in Hollywood after multiple Marvel appearances. Di Martino is just the latest Marvel actor enjoying the increased notoriety and is already lining up follow-up roles to Loki. While it remains to be seen if her MCU run will last as long as her counterpart’s, Di Martino is on top of the entertainment world, and she should enjoy that for now.
