Loki director Kate Herron reveals the subtle ways they foreshadowed the big twist about the TVA. Unlike what Agent Mobius said, everyone working for it are also variants like the ones they regularly hunt down; they're either brainwashed to join them or pruned. When the organization was introduced, it sounded like an all-powerful entity created by the mysterious Time-Keepers. But, as Loki and Sylvie continued their mission to get rid of the three "space lizards," they realized even they don't exist. Instead, it's Ravonna Renslayer scheming behind their backs all along.

While the TVA was initially presented as the good guys, like Loki, viewers always had doubts about their real purpose. There have been hints regarding their real nature, and it didn't help that Agent Mobius couldn't answer even the simplest of questions about the organization when pressed by the Asgardian Prince. Despite the supposed dire situation brought about by Sylvie, the Time-Keepers never made an appearance which made them more dubious. But according to Herron, there are also other more subtle clues peppered throughout Loki that suggesting at the real nature of the TVA.

Speaking with Thrillist, the show's director reveals that they've also included several hints in the Marvel Studios series' set design, low-key revealing that the TVA is not what it claims to be. While she's careful not to fully tackle the matter, she mentioned that the way the people at the TVA dress, not to mention the countless one-sheets throughout their offices.

"I wouldn't want to spoil anything, but I would say that yeah, as she said, everything is not what it seems and even in our design, people have picked up on certain things. Like the way that they dress, or the posters and that there's something a bit more going on there."

The Time-Keepers on their thrones in Loki

Sylvie telling Loki that everyone working at the TVA are also variants was a pivotal point in the Loki show. It was what ultimately turned Mobius and Hunter B-15 against the organization, leading to the ugly revelation about Ravonna's true nature. But while episode 4 seemed like this caused a massive commotion, it's worth noting that many people working for the fake Time-Keepers are more likely still unaware of their real origins. It's only when each one finally learns the truth that the downfall of the TVA is almost guaranteed as it will leave it with no manpower.

In the last two episodes of Loki, a lot of details have been revealed about the TVA. However, this may not be the end of their deception. While Ravonna appears to be the master manipulator, it's worth noting that in the flashback tackling the arrest of young Sylvie, she was merely a Hunter. She then, presumably, rose through the ranks to become a judge. This means that there's a higher-ranking official that's sending her directives — unless she corrupted the organization on her own. With two more episodes left before Loki wraps up its run, it's safe to say that the whole truth will be unveiled very soon.
