Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series Loki gets an official June 2021 premiere date. The MCU's Phase 4 didn't begin the way people were expecting, but it's really kicking into high gear now. In lieu of movies, fans are being treated to a great deal of content over on Disney+. First, WandaVision got underway in January and has been entertaining audiences ever since. Once that ends next month, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will pick up. Next on the schedule is Loki, the first-ever Marvel project centered purely on Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief.

Loki has been a fan favorite character ever since he first debuted in 2011's Thor, and fans are quite excited to see him take center stage in his own show. It will pick up with him after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where he stole the Space Stone and disappeared into his own timeline. When it was first announced, Loki was said to premiere sometime in the spring of 2021. Then, when the arrivals of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier were shuffled around, Loki was planned for May. Now, that is no longer the case.

Disney+ announced Wednesday that Loki will premiere on Friday, June 11. Clearly, this is later than expected, but now the series is officially set for the summertime. This means there will be more of a gap between Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is expected to wrap up in April. The official synopsis for Loki is as follows:

“Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs “Loki,” and Michael Waldron is head writer.

Currently, Black Widow is slated for release in May, so there still might be something for MCU fans in that month. If Marvel's  movie schedule remains as it is right now, Loki will help bridge the gap between Black Widow and Shang-Chi in July. Should things change, however, the series can keep Phase 4 moving forward on the television side. Though it's arriving later than expected, it's still exciting to know Loki officially has a premiere date for fans to prepare for. The extra wait will hopefully be worth it.

Marvel unveiled the first Loki trailer back in December, and the next will likely arrive closer to the show's premiere. This means fans shouldn't expect any new clips until perhaps May, though Marvel might see fit to share some teases in the meantime. Loki is brand new territory in the sense that Hiddleston's character has never received a story of his own, and it'll be exciting to see how it all unfolds. June feels far away right now, but with plenty of Marvel content scheduled between now and then, there will be plenty for fans to enjoy.
