Kate Herron, the director of Disney+'s latest MCU series Loki, announced today that she has wrapped up the finishing touches on the show's finale. Despite the fact that only two episodes have aired, Loki has already solidified itself as a hit, scoring the highest viewership of any Disney+ original series thus far (including non-Marvel properties such as The Mandalorian). Tom Hiddleston's whimsical portrayal of the Norse God of Mischief has charmed audiences since the character's debut in 2011's Thor and continues to draw in audiences a decade later.

The series follows Loki after his brief cameo in Avengers: Endgame, in which he escapes from the Avengers' custody using the Tesseract. Accosted by the Time Variance Authority for disrupting the preordained flow of time, Loki comes to learn the intricate mechanics of time travel alongside the happy-go-lucky TVA Analyst, Mobius (Owen Wilson). With the reveal of the fugitive Loki variant in last week's episode, the show has proved itself to be an unpredictable ride.

Herron recently took to Twitter to announce that the finished cut of Loki's finale has been completed and submitted to Disney+. Herron revealed that she wrapped up the series in the same location she originally pitched it: her parent's kitchen table. You can find her full Tweet below:

Although WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier delivered emotionally satisfying conclusions to each of their respective storylines, both shows also made sure to leave enough dangling threads for future MCU projects to develop. Even with Loki's finale still a month away, it's likely that Marvel's latest series will follow in the same footsteps as its predecessors. Loki has done the most of any previous MCU project to establish the multiverse so far, which follows up on Marvel's apparent plan to explore the multiverse concept in Phase 4.

With Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to release in 2022, it seems that the multiverse will take center stage in the next phase of MCU's ever-expanding narrative. This will open the door for exciting new storytelling possibilities that have the potential to deviate from the MacGuffin-based storytelling formula that Marvel has grown accustomed to with the Infinity Stones. There may even be potential to incorporate past iterations of Marvel characters that debuted outside of the MCU, something Marvel has played coy about in the past. Although specific plot points are still under wraps, it's safe to assume that Loki's finale will leave fans excited to see the rest of what Phase 4 has in store.
