A new set photo from Loki season 2 reveals a secret Marvel villain Easter egg. Premiering on Disney+ in June 2021, Loki took the entire MCU fanbase by storm, breaking viewership records and garnering acclaim from critics and fans alike. In the show, Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as the titular God of Mischief, although it is an alternative version of the character that is summoned by the bureaucratic Time Variance Authority (TVA) to stop another Loki variant from killing TVA agents. Loki season 2 was confirmed during the mid-credits scene in the first season finale, although it will be some time before the show returns to streaming.

The Loki season 1 finale was arguably a game-changer for Marvel as it dealt with the multiverse and introduced a variant of future villain Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). The former concept was further explored in MCU films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; presumably, Loki season 2 will continue to dig into this thorny concept. The exact plot details for Loki season 2, though, continue to remain obscure. Production on the show has been underway since June, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead taking over the directorial duties from season 1 director Kate Herron. Most of the Loki season 1 cast is expected to return.

Now More Butter shares a set photo from Loki season 2, and it gives away an Easter egg regarding an old Marvel villain. The set photo in question seemingly showcases an in-universe film poster for the serial killer movie Zaniac starring the Marvel Comics character Brad Wolfe. At the moment, since the poster is so obscure, it's hard to tell what it signifies. Take a look at the set photo below.

As some comics enthusiasts may recall, Brad Wolfe was a minor character from the Thor #319 and #371 comic strips. He's an actor who portrays the titular serial killer in the Zaniac movie. Eventually, however, Brad becomes possessed by the actual Zaniac, which is a mysterious entity that overwhelms him and its other hosts with a bloodlust for beautiful women. Brad and other Zaniacs subsequently go on a deranged murderous rampage, killing every girl in their way with their energy knives. Thor ultimately subdues Zaniac and prevents the vermin from infecting other hosts.

With the Loki set photo being somewhat unclear, it is hard to tell whether the apparent Zaniac movie poster is just an exciting Easter egg hidden in the background of a scene, or if it's a major reference to a subplot that will be tied into Loki's story. Even if the latter is true, fans shouldn't necessarily count on the MCU's Thor (Chris Hemsworth) arriving to stop the menace with a cameo appearance in Loki season 2. The more likely scenario is that this time around, it will be Loki and Sylvie who will put an end to the Zaniac mayhem. Of course, at this point, this is merely speculation. The MCU is also known for hiding little nods to the comics within its projects. As filming Loki season 2 has only recently gotten underway, it will be some time before further details are revealed.
