During a recent panel, Tom Hiddleston suggested that Loki season 2 will pick up directly after the events of the first season finale's cliffhanger. Hiddleston both stars as the titular character and serves as a producer on the Disney+ series. During its airing, the series was met with critical praise, with critics and fans praising the shows' performances, music, and surprise twists.

During the season finale of Loki, "For All Time. Always.," Hiddleston's Loki and variant Sylvie (Sophia di Martino) had met the man behind the TVA, Kang the Conqueror variant "He Who Remains" (Jonathan Majors). Sylvie betrayed Loki by sending him back to the TVA headquarters and killing "He Who Remains," causing the divergence of the Sacred Timeline and the birth of the multiverse. Loki reunites with Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), who do not remember him, and a villainous variant of He Who Remains is revealed to now control the TVA. Kang will soon appear as the villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but now fans have been given an idea of where Loki will be when the second season debuts.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Hiddleston, Majors, and di Martino attended MCM London Comic Con, where they hosted a Loki panel. During the panel, Hiddleston offered a hint of how the second season would start, briefly recapping the events of the season 1 finale before suggesting that season 2 will pick up directly where the finale left off. Hiddleston apologized for not being able to provide any more details but later surprised fans during the day by photobombing a photoshoot at a fan gathering. Read Hiddleston's full response below.

"Okay so look, we can't say anything unfortunately, but at the end of episode six, season one, Loki comes back to TVA. He's quite traumatised, he's quite emotional, and he tries to explain what happens to Mobius, and Mobius doesn't recognise him. And then he turns to look at the statue of the timekeepers, but it's not a statue of the timekeepers, it's a statue of someone else... And I guess we'll start from there. I'm so sorry to disappoint you!"

The events of Loki expanded on the concept of multiverses and how they fit into the MCU's mythos, with the animated series What If..? soon after exploring the possibilities a multiverse might offer. With literal universe-altering events occurring in Loki, the aftermath is set to ripple throughout future MCU projects, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and future seasons of What If..?. It was also previously rumored that Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius will soon return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Benedict Cumberbatch's sorcerer supreme traversing the different realities.

Loki's second season picking up directly after the events of the season 1 finale does bring recent rumors into question, as early rumors suggested the cast would cameo in Multiverse of Madness. If season 2 is an immediate continuation from the finale, it could mean that previous rumors were inaccurate. Alternatively, the events of Multiverse of Madness may take place after season 2, with the season taking place before the film, much like the events of Black Widow did before Avengers: Infinity War.
