Marvel Studios' Loki season 2 can perfectly set up a reunion between the titular God of Mischief and his brother, Thor, in the MCU's Phase 6. Loki season 1 introduced the first variant of Kang the Conqueror in the form of He Who Remains, the overseer of the Sacred Timeline and creator of the TVA. After Sylvie killed him, the Sacred Timeline was splintered open, making several branched realities that are becoming significant in the MCU and will culminate in the climactic Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

By introducing Loki to He Who Remains, Marvel have begun to lay the foundations for a reunion between him and Thor. Thor: Love & Thunder ended with a message ensuring that Thor would be returning, suggesting that he will be seen again before the end of the Multiverse Saga, most likely in The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Since Loki has already come face-to-face with a variant of Kang, it stands to reason that he will be a primary character in the upcoming Kang-centered projects, potentially bringing about a long-awaited brotherly reunion.

Why Thor Needs A Reunion After Loki Season 1

Thor Reunion With Loki

Loki season 1 picked up after Avengers: Endgame, during which the 2012 version of Loki stole the Tesseract and escaped from the Avengers' capture. It seemed as though all the good work that Loki had put in to become a better person had been unwritten, but Loki season 1 actually set itself up as the character's true redemption story. Thanks to his experiences with the TVA and Sylvie, Loki developed even further than he had by Thor: Ragnarok, becoming a selfless and caring individual, even wanting to preserve the Sacred Timeline by the end of the season instead of allowing Sylvie to kill He Who Remains.

Thor has also been on quite the journey since his brother's death at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, suffering depression over his failure to defeat Thanos, and being changed by his loss of Jane Foster during Love & Thunder, even gaining an adoptive daughter. So if the two brothers are set to have a reunion, they will be greeting each other as two new, and arguably improved, heroes. It would do both Thor and Loki a world of good to come back together and fight alongside each other, healing old wounds and paving the way for a future as brothers, instead of enemies as the past has shown.

Loki Has A Major Role To Play Against Kang

Not only is a reunion between Thor and Loki already on the cards, but Loki will certainly have a huge part to play in the eventual fight between the Avengers and Kang the Conqueror. Loki is the only member of the MCU's core group of heroes who have any experience of going up against a variant of Kang, and luckily, He Who Remains gave him and Sylvie in a history lesson concerning the multiversal war and the other variants of himself. The information that Loki knows will surely become invaluable to the Avengers during the ensuing battles.

It's only a matter of time before Loki re-enters the MCU proper, especially since Loki season 2 is coming in 2023 and Owen Wilson will reprise his role as Mobius in Deadpool 3. This means there will be several opportunities for Loki to get back to the 616 universe before The Kang Dynasty, setting up for his eventual reunion with Thor. Loki season 2 will surely develop the concept of the multiverse much further in the MCU.
