After becoming a breakout character in his debut, Loki season 2 has promoted TVA's Casey actor Eugene Cordero to a series regular role. Alongside Cordero, the cast for the Marvel Cinematic Universe show included Tom Hiddleston returning as the titular character, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Tara Strong, Jack Veal, DeObia Oparei and Richard E. Grant. Loki centered on the God of Mischief learning about the existence of the Time Variance Authority and being forced to help them solve the mystery of who is murdering their agents, or else be wiped out from existence for his messing with the "Sacred Timeline" in Avengers: Endgame.

Cordero starred in Loki season 1 as Casey, a low-level TVA receptionist made the butt of many jokes for the titular character and other TVA agents. Though only given a small amount of screen time, Casey became a fan-favorite character for the MCU show, with his wondering what a fish is that became a viral meme. Though already confirmed to be returning, fans of Casey are getting even more exciting news regarding Casey's next chapter in Loki season 2.

With production already well underway on the show, Deadline has brought word that Loki season 2 is promoting TVA's Casey actor Eugene Cordero to series regular. Though featured in the credits for nearly every episode of season 1, Cordero was considered a recurring player in the MCU show. While no updates were given on Loki season 2 filming, the show having been in production since June makes it likely it will wrap soon.

Eugene Cordero in Loki

News of Cordero being promoted to a series regular in Loki season 2 comes just a few months after the star himself confirmed his return as the character and his excitement to be reprising the role. With his now being confirmed for a larger role in the show, it certainly raises questions of Casey's involvement in the story for season 2. Though series regulars could still be absent from some episodes, they do still generally factor into the overall arc of a show, seemingly pointing towards Casey playing a larger part in Loki season 2's larger story.

What will be interesting to see is whether, much like his other co-stars, Cordero will be playing multiple versions of Casey in Loki season 2. Season 1 ended with audiences seeing Cordero appear as Hunter K-5E in the alternate universe Loki landed in, and with Hiddleston teasing at the recent D23 Expo that season 2 would pick up right on the heels of the finale and see Loki travel the multiverse, it seems likely his Hunter variant will appear in the first few episodes, if not the entire season. In the meantime, audiences can revisit Cordero's MCU debut with Loki season 1 streaming on Disney+ now.
