Loki creator Michael Waldron opens up about the various Easter eggs hidden in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and says fans are still missing one. The latest series in the Disney+ roster of MCU titles picks up from the events of Avengers: Endgame's time heist in which the titular god of mischief escapes with the Tesseract and is swiftly arrested by the Time Variance Authority to be wiped from existence. However, he's offered a deal to track down a variant of himself named Sylvie who is killing off TVA agents, though elects to join her in her quest to get the answers to the mysteries behind the TVA and bring it down in the process.

Alongside Tom Hiddleston's return, the cast for Loki includes Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Owen Wilson as TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as TVA judge Ravonna Renslayer, Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, Richard E. Grant as Classic Loki and Wunmi Mosaku as TVA Hunter B-15. Much like its predecessors, WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the series earned rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and set multiple viewership records for Disney+. Acting as the primary launch point fo the multiverse chaos of Phase 4 of the MCU, Loki will continue with season 2, which is reportedly set to begin filming in January.

With nearly a month passed since the first chapter came to a jaw-dropping close, Waldron caught up with CBR to discuss Loki season 1. In reflecting on the series' various Easter eggs, Waldron called the inclusion of Frog Thor, also known as Throg, as his favorite while noting he believes fans are still missing one hidden Easter egg, though wouldn't offer any clues for a funny-yet-fair reason. See what Waldron said below:

"Maybe there's one. I think there's one that's still out there that nobody's found yet. I just want people to look. I just want to boost the numbers! [laughs] I want people watching! What is my favorite Easter egg? I mean, I love Throg. That's awesome. I think it's been said we actually shot a version of an expanded scene with Throg in Episode 1 that didn't make it in there, but I am glad that's in there in some form."

Throg in a jar in Loki

The entirety of the MCU is founded on the treasure hunt of Easter eggs from fans of both the films and shows and the comic books they're based upon. Loki was certainly no different in season 1, with its multiverse premise opening the door for eagle-eyed viewers to not only try and solve the mystery of the TVA but also to discover any variants of the titular god of mischief or other MCU characters. Episode 5 of the series, entitled "Journey Into Mystery," saw the ominous realm of The Void littered with various Easter eggs from both the comics and the MCU, including the head of Ant-Man villain Yellowjacket, the Thanos-Copter and Ronan the Accuser's ship from Guardians of the Galaxy.

The cherry on top of it all was of course Throg, a frog variant of Thor kept in a jar next to a human-sized Mjolnir. As was the case with the alligator version of Hiddleston's character in the series, Throg quickly became a fan-favorite inclusion of Loki and emblematic of its willingness to dive into the stranger areas of the comics and its characters. With any luck, viewers will return to watch season 1 of the MCU series in preparation for What If...? and discover the final Easter egg Waldron is referring to.
