In the world of Marvel Comics, Loki is generally referred to as the God of Mischief. But what even his most devoted fans don't know is that he also goes by another name. One that brings all new meaning to his wicked laughter, horned helmet, and love for all things evil.

Loki has been around since almost the very beginning of Marvel's Asgardian realm, though he may disguise himself as both male and female versions of Loki to play tricks on his brother Thor, his father Odin, and the other Asgardian gods. Throughout the Marvel Universe, Loki is constantly playing the role of a double agent, which often makes him an empathetic hero as well as a deceitful villain. Because Loki is an expert at getting himself in trouble, at one point in the comics, he is banished to the underworld of Hades - and for a brief time in the Marvel Universe, Loki is technically Satan.

At one point in the comics, Zeus, the ruler of Olympus-banishes Loki from Olympus to the underworld of Hades. Although there's not a specific reason as to why he is being banished to the Underworld, one can assume that his tricky goes a step too far as it generally does. While being banished in Hades, Loki takes the place of its ruler Pluto and shortly after beginning his reign, he gains a son. In addition to becoming the ruler of Hades, he gives himself the name Satan. Hence, why his son's name is Son of Satan.

Loki and Venus

Of course, as Loki reigns over Hades with his son at his side, the two get themselves into some trouble and unleash hell onto Earth. Mainly, because they both long for Venus, the Goddess of love and beauty who resides on Earth and blends in with humanity. When the two don't get their way and Venus denies them both, they try to seek different ways of gaining the woman's love and affection. One involving luring her to the depths of Hades. One may wonder why the Son of Satan is not a well-known offspring of Loki and the reasoning may have to deal with his possible demise in the comics. During a fight with Venus, he is tossed into Earth's orbit and is not heard from again. Maybe the character is not meant to have as much popularity as his enigmatic father.

It's clear that Loki's son is a chip off the old block. But one wonders why, in many cases, is Loki capable of as much good as he is evil? The answer may lie in his noteworthy upbringing.
