New fan art has emerged which imagines Dune star Timothée Chalamet as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 25-year-old actor has achieved increasing fame in Hollywood for his work on films such as Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name, and Little Women. He can now be seen in Dune, which is currently in theaters and on HBO Max.

Loki has easily become one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Primarily portrayed by Tom Hiddleston ever since 2011’s Thor, the Trickster God has been a consistent thorn in Thor’s side, but has slowly but surely gone down the path of redemption ever since Thor: The Dark World. Even after the character’s death in The Sacred Timeline during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the Loki variant who spun off into his own Disney+ series has quickly gone from villain to anti-hero to full-blown hero, with a second season on the way.

Now, with the first season of Loki in the rearview and Timothée Chalamet debuting as Paul Atreides in Dune, new fan art has emerged on Instagram from BossLogic blending the two. Specifically, the well-known artist has released a mockup of what Chalamet could look like as the MCU’s version of The Trickster God. Check out the art below.

It’s fairly clear that the above image uses a shot of Chalamet from the Dune marketing campaign as a base. From there, it adds a cape, a dagger, and an overall color palette that is clearly inspired by the MCU version of Loki. Additionally, this Chalamet version of Loki has The Trickster God’s trademark horns. However, in terms of size, these are somewhere between the enormous ones worn by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and the small versions worn by Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie in the Loki series.

Of course, this all leads fans to wonder if they will ever see Chalamet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Based on that image, it’s clear that he has the correct look for Loki. Even if Marvel doesn’t recast Tom Hiddleston anytime soon (an unlikely event, as Hiddleston remains beloved), Chalamet could always portray a variant version of Loki from a different timeline. Chalamet continues to inch closer and closer to big-budget blockbuster fare from his indie roots, even if he was warned never to do a superhero movie. This is particularly notable with his role in Dune and his upcoming role in the Wonka reboot, so fans will have to wait and see if he ever dives into a proper superhero (or supervillain) role.
