Courtesy of an interview with production designer Kasra Farahani, Loki concept art reveals Iron Man’s helmet in He Who Remains’ office. Following episode 4’s The Wizard of Oz-esque reveal that the Time-Keepers are fake, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) commit to unveiling the true mastermind behind the Time Variance Authority’s curtain. At the end of the series’ fourth episode, Loki is transported to The Void at the end of time—a place jam-packed with Easter eggs. In episode 5, Loki and Sylvie enchant Alioth (with a little help from Classic Loki) and clear the way to a Citadel at the End of Time.

Inspired by Xanadu from Citizen Kane, this fortress atop an asteroid amid all of space and time houses He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors)—a more “pure of heart” variant of Nathaniel Richards/Kang the Conqueror who won the last Multiversal war and uses the TVA to stave off other variants of himself. As Loki and Sylvie enter the Hall of Heroes, there’s a level of decay in the Citadel, suggesting He Who Remains has not left in a very, very, long time. The pair then follow him up to his more polished office filled with a variety of equations, texts, relics, and memorabilia related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with Vanity Fair’s Joanna Robinson, production designer Kasra Farahani—who had more experience as a concept artist before Loki—discussed decorating the Citadel at the End of Time. Farahani also shared some concept art for the show, which Robinson then posted to Twitter. If you look closely, you can see Iron Man’s helmet on the shelf to the left of Loki in the third picture. He Who Remains dictates the Sacred Timeline’s proper flow and Tony Stark/Iron Man plays one of the biggest roles on that timeline; influencing almost every major event in the MCU thus far—from the founding of the Avengers to Thanos’ defeat. The variant of Richards—who discovers the multiverse in the 31st-century— also probably respects Stark’s intellect. In Avengers: Endgame, Tony makes the Avengers’ time heist possible—something crucial to the events of Loki.

In Lokis sixth episode, He Who Remains explains that he “paved the road” for Loki and Sylvie; they only found him because he wanted them to. Deferring to the series’ pilot, when Judge Ravonna Renslayer says the Avengers’ time-travel antics were supposed to happen, the variant of Loki viewers follow in the Disney+ series wouldn’t exist had He Who Remains not allowed Endgame to happen. An argument can also be made that Tony’s equation for time travel concerning the Quantum Realm influences the work of Richards and, in turn, the creation of the TVA. Suffice to say, it would make sense for He Who Remains to display an Iron Man helmet in his office.
