WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Loki episode 4.

A surprise credits scene changes Loki, hinting that other Loki variants could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Loki premiere introduces the Time Variance Authority as the organization that oversees Marvel's Sacred Timeline. According to an instructional TVA video, the agency carries out the bidding of the mysterious Time-Keepers and is in charge of tracking down variants, which is anyone who steps off of their assigned path on the timeline. If the TVA doesn't stop the variants, the Sacred Timeline will supposedly erupt into madness. Once caught, the variants stand trial for their crimes against the timeline and get "pruned," which is TVA speak for being executed. However, Loki episode 4 may change that definition.

In Loki episode 4, the TVA brings Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Sophia Di Martino's Lady Loki before the Time-Keepers. Before their execution, the two Loki variants manage to fight their way free and decapitate one of the Time-Keepers. It turns out the Time-Keepers are robots, and there's someone else pulling the strings at the TVA. However, shortly after that scene,  Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Ravonna Renslayer prunes Loki, and the God of Mischief disappears from the screen. Surprisingly, he doesn't die.

In a Loki credits scene, Hiddleston's character wakes up in another timeline, and his scene partners help create new possibilities for the MCU. When Loki awakens in what appears to be a post-apocalyptic New York City, he quickly discovers he's in the presence of other Loki variants. These are Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei), Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant) and even an Alligator Loki. These variants were presumably pruned by the TVA as well. If this is the case, it may allow Hulk Loki and other variants to also appear.

More Loki variants could be on the way in the MCU. Loki episode 2 reveals the TVA has pruned a lot of Loki variants, including Hulk Loki, Viking Loki, and Frost Giant Loki. The reveal that pruning doesn't equate to death means these variants likely still exist in the MCU. They were simply sent to a different timeline by the TVA. It's unknown if they were sent to the same timeline as Loki, but the appearance of the other Loki variants may hint that's the case. The series has already established that no two Loki variants are exactly alike, so there's potential for a number of drastically different variants to show up in the future.

The reveal has ripple effects throughout the MCU. In Loki episode 4, the TVA's Sacred timeline almost goes into chaos with Loki and Lady Loki touching each other. If a massive amount of Loki variants team up together, the TVA and the Sacred Timeline don't have a chance. This will likely feed directly into Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is also penned by Loki executive producer Michael Waldron. It appears that other Loki variants are on the way, along with that madness the TVA is trying to prevent.
