The Loki finale still has an undiscovered story detail according to director Kate Herron. While WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had a mostly self-contained narrative, Marvel Studios' third Disney+ series' events go beyond the God of Mischief's story. Instead, what happened in the show, particularly the finale, will shape the MCU moving forward with the multiverse now unleashed.

After weeks of building towards the mystery behind the Time Variance Authority, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his female variant, Sylvie (Sophie di Martino) finally unmasked the being who created the organization. After discovering that the Time-Keepers do not exist, the pair continued their journey to find the person who's been pulling the strings in its operation. Thanks to some help from Agent Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) and other Loki variants, specifically, Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant), they reached the Citadel at the End of Time where they met He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). Despite the warnings, Sylvie couldn't be reasoned with; she proceeded with killing Kang the Conqueror's variant and forced Loki back into the TVA where he couldn't meddle with her decision.

However, it's subsequently revealed that Loki was transported to a different version of the TVA — one where Kang the Conqueror openly manages the institution without using the Time-Keepers as proxies. According to Herron in a new interview with Buzzfeed, before this reveal in the Loki finale, the God of Mischief runs through a group of hunters, and during this scene, a familiar voice can be heard. She didn't say who it is but teases that it's a secret storytelling detail. Read what Herron said below:

The one I would say is — it’s less Easter egg and more cool story-wise. So, at the very end of the finale, when Loki is in this alternate TVA, there’s a character that runs behind him and is going to the armory and people should listen to the voice. It’s very quick, but it’s someone familiar.

Herron, unfortunately, didn't give any more information past what she revealed in the aforementioned interview. However, there are theories that she's referring to Casey becoming a hunter instead of a desk officer in the original version of the TVA. It's possible that this was what the director was referring to; after all, it's a subtle indicator that the Loki finale's iteration of the organization wasn't the one from its premiere, given Casey's new position. But, it's worth noting that Eugene Cordero was listed as a hunter in the credits, which made it easier to discover this detail.

On top of this, Herron and her team have also previously used the same tactic in hinting at the debut of Majors. In Loki episode 4, the actor was revealed to have voiced the Time-Keepers. After Sylvie successfully decapitated the space lizard's leader, his last words were "see you soon" — the same thing He Who Remains told the variant when she killed him in the finale. Given this, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Marvel Studios is using sound cues to tease what's next for the God of Mischief and the MCU now that the multiverse is officially in chaos.
