Owen Wilson comments on the surprising series of plot twists in Loki episode 4. The actor boards the MCU via the ongoing Disney+ series where he plays TVA agent, Mobius M. Mobius. If not for him, the God of Mischief, who escapes in Avengers: Endgame's New York time heist, would've been long purged. During their brief time together, the pair has developed an unlikely bond, and in the latest outing of the show, it was clear that they both need each other to escape their respective predicaments.

Back in Loki episode 2, the female Loki variant named Sylvie revealed that all employees in the TVA are brainwashed variants just like them. This contradicted Mobius' claims that he, alongside the rest of the people in the organization, were created by the Time-Keepers specifically for their jobs. Naturally, Loki tried warning Mobius about this massive revelation, but since the God of Mischief is known for lying, he had to work doubly hard to prove his point. Fortunately for him, Mobius had his own hunch that motivated him to dig more to find out about the truth, which he ultimately did. But before both of them could escape the TVA officers and come up with a plan, Ravonna Renslayer caught them and decided on pruning her own analyst.

In an interview with Marvel.com, Wilson comments on the revelation that Mobius is a variant and that Ravonna, whom he treated as a dear friend, lied to him. The actor admitted that the betrayal from Renslayer's side was shocking and that it proves that everyone has secrets in the TVA. He also cited how this plot twist essentially put him in the same position that the Asgardian Prince was at the start of Loki, as now, he also has no idea what the TVA is despite being an employee for years.

“The relationship between Mobius and Renslayer, it's the way you might have with your boss. Or when you're back in school with the principal or someone in a position of authority and having to sort of try to charm them so you're able to pursue your projects. That's the dynamic between Mobius and Renslayer. She sort of loses patience with Mobius and with another one of his schemes. But, I think, she also sort of enjoys that he's a little bit of a rascal.”

“The betrayal of Mobius by Renslayer is pretty shocking. And it's a little bit of a hall of mirrors within the whole series, that people aren't quite who they seem to be. In the same way that Loki, when he lands in this bizarre place called the TVA, Mobius will have sort of the same struggles. What is this organization? And is it something that is worthy of his devotion?”

Loki watches Mobius Gets Pruned in Loki

Loki episode 4 was a crucial point in the series as it flips the narrative and confirms that TVA are the bad guys in the show. But, it's safe to say that there are still more secrets that will be unraveled regarding the organization after it was revealed that the Time-Keepers don't exist. Currently, Ravonna appears to be the mastermind behind the entity, but it's worth noting that she, too, started as a hunter and rose through the ranks to become a judge. That implies that there's a higher power that's sending her directives, or at least working with her for whatever unknown reason.

At this point, Mobius' whereabouts are unknown. As previously mentioned, he was pruned in Loki episode 4 after Ravonna discovered that he changed allegiances and was planning on going against what was told. But, unlike initial presumptions that pruning means getting deleted from reality, the same outing's post-credits scene reveals that variants undergoing the same experience are merely transported somewhere else. After all, that's what happened to the God of Mischief when he found himself in wrecked New York.
