New MCU star Jonathan Majors breaks down the differences in his filming experiences on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki. Between his roles in Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods and on Lovecraft Country, Majors broke out in a big way last year, and his star has only risen since then. In late 2020, Majors was cast as the MCU's next overarching antagonist, Kang the Conqueror. He was originally expected to make his official debut in Ant-Man 3, but he surprised audiences by arriving in the season 1 finale of Loki as a Kang variant known as He Who Remains.

Since then, Majors has begun work on Ant-Man 3, which is currently in production in the U.K. Fans have been eagerly speculating about the role Kang will take in the movie, but little has been revealed so far. Ant-Man 3 was originally scheduled for release in February 2023, but it recently moved to July of that same year. That makes for a longer wait for Majors' next MCU appearance, though there's always the chance he could put in a surprise role somewhere else.

Majors is currently promoting his new Netflix film The Harder They Fall, and while speaking to GamesRadar+, he touched upon his filming experiences in the MCU. He was asked if he feels a bit looser now filming Ant-Man 3, though he said that isn't so. "I felt pretty loose and free on the Loki set!" Majors said. "The MCU and all the powers-that-be are just so open-hearted." He then expanded upon all the ways Ant-Man 3 has been different than Loki, explaining:

The character is different so you move a different way; my psychology has shifted because of the character. He’s just a different guy. He Who Remains is not in Ant-Man. It’s Kang. But the people surrounding us – the cast, my leading man Paul Rudd – that’s different. Because Paul’s not Tom [Hiddleston]. This is a movie, not a TV show. I’ve been here since the beginning and I came in at the end on Loki.

Save for the people around him and the story he's telling, it's rather remarkable that Majors is now playing a completely different character for his second MCU appearance. Loki introduced him as He Who Remains, the head of the TVA working to prevent his more dangerous variants from being let loose on the world. Fans haven't yet gotten a taste of Majors' Kang, but there's a lot of anticipation surrounding his arrival. Between Majors' talent and the impression he made with his Loki episode, he seems perfect for the part of Kang, and it'll be interesting to see how the character differs from He Who Remains.

Odds are, Majors will soon have other MCU sets to compare to his time on Ant-Man 3 and Loki, though it's anyone's guess as to what they might be. Marvel is notoriously secretive when it comes to its future plans, and with Ant-Man 3 and Loki season 2 both so far off, it'll likely be some time before more details of Majors' MCU future emerge. Nevertheless, it sounds like he's having a great time so far playing in the MCU, and we can't wait to see what he does next.
