Locke & Key has already resolved its big stories from its first two seasons; however, the show seemingly forgot to fix one season 1 plot hole. Netflix's Locke & Key, based on the comics by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, shows the adventures of the Locke family after they discover their father's childhood home is full of magical keys. However, they aren't the only ones who want the enchanted items. Throughout the first two seasons, the Lockes deal with otherworldly demons who also want to control the keys and perhaps all of humanity itself.

The Locke & Key season 2 finale finally resolved several dangling plot threads. After two seasons of fighting against a demon named Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira), the Locke family seemingly kills the monster for good. The season also shows Tyler (Connor Jessup), the oldest of the three Locke siblings, accepting that he will forget the keys when he turns eighteen and heading off on a road trip. Now, Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) and Kinsey Locke (Emilia Jones) are left to fight off a new threat, Kevin Durand's Frederick Gideon, in season 3 without the help of their older brother.

Despite Locke & Key wrapping up key storylines in season 2, one little mystery involving Bode still lingers on. In the Locke & Key premiere, Bode discovers the power of the magic keys by using the Anywhere Key to go to the ice cream shop and get a scoop of vanilla on a sugar cone. However, while at the store, Scot (Petrice Jones) tells him he owes three dollars for the dessert. Bode says he'll be right back, but he uses his magical Anywhere Key to simply go home and never pay Scot for the ice cream. Despite Bode stealing the ice cream, the matter doesn't come up again in season 1.

The ice cream scene is a strange issue. After all, in season 1, Scot ends up dating Kinsey for a while before Gabe (Griffin Gluck), a character who's secretly Dodge, comes along and steals her away. The moment could've been helpful since Kinsey doesn't believe Bode about the keys at first. If Scot had mentioned the ice cream, it would confirm that the magic keys exist. However, Scot doesn't mention the ice cream to Kinsey when they're together. So the show ignores the moment, and Bode still owed Scot $3 for the confection.

Ignoring Bode's ice cream theft isn't a major Locke & Key unanswered question. In the end, Bode simply owes Scot $3, and he probably forgives the debt while dating Kinsey. Scot also lets the entire family enjoy free ice cream earlier in the episode. Still, the moment is a strange oversight since Scot didn't imply that the family could always eat ice cream for free. After becoming busy while making his movie, Scot quits the ice cream store in Locke & Key season 2, seemingly ending any possible quest for the $3. Still, it's probably the best scenario for all involved. Scot doesn't have to worry about the $3, and the ice cream store could finally get employees who don't give the entire inventory away.
