The Marvel Universe recently featured a wonderful reference to Lizzo, as she collaborated with the X-Men's Dazzler on a new single, and the superstar singer and rapper just found out about the comic and is thrilled. In Children of the Atom #1, the mutant is revealed to have a song with Lizzo. When the 'Truth Hurts' singer found out about the mention, she took to Twitter to confirm it was real.

Dazzler has a deep connection to the actual music industry, as she was originally conceived in partnership with Marvel Comics and Casablanca Records. Originally, there were plans for Dazzler to become a multimedia star in comics and music. The collaboration was supposed to lead to a feature film starring Dazzler and a number of records and music spinning out of the film. Unfortunately, that never happened. But, Dazzler has remained a prominent hero in the X-Men universe since debuting in 1980. Taylor Swift was rumored to appear as the hero in X-Men: Apocalypse before Halston Sage played the character in her live-action debut in Dark Phoenix.

In Children of the Atom #1 by Vita Ayala and Bernard Chang, one scene featured two young heroes, Buddy and Carmen, talking about music superstar Dazzler. The conversation turns to Dazzler's tour in the human world, where it's revealed the singer has a brand new feature from Lizzo on her latest single. On Twitter, Lizzo retweeted artist Aman Chaudhary's picture of Lizzo as Dazzler inspired by an appearance on the Tonight Show. The conversation quickly turned to Dazzler and Lizzo found out about the reference and was incredibly excited to see it.

Children of the Atom Dazzler

Lizzo asked if the mention was real, and Children of the Atom writer Vita Ayala confirmed it in fact was, saying, "I had to shout out one of the absolute best in the industry (both here and in the Marvel Universe)."

Ayala knows a thing or two about pop culture, so the Lizzo reference makes a lot of sense. In order to illustrate to readers who might not know who Dazzler is and that she's a big deal in the Marvel Universe, saying she has a single with one of the biggest stars in music right now will certainly accomplish that goal. It would be a lot of fun for Marvel to revive their efforts to create a real-life Dazzler and release some music under the mutant's moniker, as a song with Lizzo would absolutely be amazing.
