Live A Live allows players to continue playing after beating the game. One can jump back into a scenario either from the beginning or partway through a quest. This allows one to relive their favorite character’s journey with extra bonuses.

With ten possible main characters, there are many extras to see and items to find. While none of these make drastic story changes, they do further flesh out the world of Live A Live. These extra objectives are great for players that want to explore every hidden nook of the game.

Once returning to a scenario, players will be committed until they refinish the adventure. It is advised to make a new save before jumping into Live A Live’s New Game Plus. This way, one can back out and choose another journey without always losing progress.

Extra Chapter Events in Live A Live

How to Get the Memory Card in Live a Live The Distant Future Captain Square Arcade Game

Several chapters allow side activities and alternate story paths. Completing some of these may grant new items, dialogue, or simply serve as Easter eggs. At a minimum, they also serve as great challenges to test players’ knowledge of the battle system and other mechanics.

Train a Different Earthen Heart Shifu

In the Imperial China chapter, players can pick one of three candidates to become the next Earthen Heart user. The elder Shifu will have a total of twelve training bouts spread over three days. Whichever pupil is focused on the most will become a new main protagonist in Live A Live. In the case of ties, Hong Hakka beats Lei Kugo, while Lei beats Yun Jou. Each student has advantages: Hong has the highest hit points, Lei has extra speed, and Yun deals great magical-based attacks. This gives each of them a clear focus if used in the finale fight against Odio.

Save or Kill Everyone in Edo Japan

For the Twilight of Edo Japan chapter, Obormaru must infiltrate an enemy base. There are 100 occupants of the castle, and special rewards can be gained by either killing all or none of them. The former can be completed easier with the help of Live A Live optional character O-Robo. However, the latter requires much more patience by waiting to sneak by or fleeing from all combat.

Win Captain Square

Onboard the Cogito Ergo Sum, helmsman Kirk Wells will be playing the arcade game Captain Square. It is split into nine stages named after the planets - including Pluto - and steadily increases in difficulty. Those that beat Captain Square while Kirk is present will be directly praised by them. If the mini-game proves too difficult, players can find a memory card later in the Live A Live chapter. This will allow one to jump right to the final stage or format the card and save progress.

Pick a New Main Hero

Players are free to select their starting hero for Live A Live’s ninth chapter at the Dominion of Hate. Each character begins at a different location and has a unique dialogue. This includes both when recruiting others and taking on the main enemy Odio. Best of all, players can find out what their previous main character was up to before beating Live A Live the first time.
