Denzel Washington as Joe Deacon
Denzel Washington stars as Joe “Deke” Deacon, a weary sheriff deputy who visits Los Angeles on minor business and ends up embroiled in a new serial killer case. It reminds him of an unsolved murder that cost him his career and nearly his life. Now Joe must contend with memories that have haunted him for years.
Washington, a prolific actor in his own right, is no stranger to playing hardened cops. He's starred in Training Day, for which he won an Oscar, The Equalizer films, Fences, Flight, Remember the Titans, and The Bone Collector, just to name a few. He's been nominated for Academy Awards several times and won another for his work in Glory.
Rami Malek as Jim Baxter
Rami Malek plays Sergeant Jim Baxter, a driven young detective on the trail of a potential serial killer. He knows Deacon's reputation and expertise and brings him in on the hunt. Little does he know that Deacon's past may very well ruin the investigation.
Malek is best known for his role as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, for which he's won an Oscar. He's also starred as Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot and has had small roles in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. He'll play James Bond villain Safin in No Time to Die next.
Jared Leto as Albert Smarma
Jared Leto stars as Albert Smarma, a true-crime enthusiast and number one suspect in the recent crop of murders. Calm, cool, collected, and creepy, Smarma baits and instigates the detectives who question him, leading them down a rabbit-hole of what-ifs.
