Little People, Big World viewers are remembering the time Matt Roloff had the bad idea to make a pumpkin launcher for his family farm. While the medieval tool seemed cool in theory, in reality, it was a much bigger project which didn't really do anything for the farm. Naturally, Amy was against the idea, but Matt continued with it regardless.

Viewers have taken to Reddit to share some throwback memories of the show, which include the pumpkin launcher, essentially a giant catapult. User JennAruba noted that while rewatching some old Little People, Big World episodes, they couldn't believe how "stupid" Matt was for making it. In the comments, other Reddit users agreed the trebuchet was extremely dangerous, and Matt was lucky no one ended up dead as a result of the device.

Little People, Big World viewers will recall that in 2006, Matt and Amy's then nine-year-old son, Jacob, was severely injured along with their lifelong friend Mike. The catapult malfunctioned when a 2,000-pound concrete weight dislodged from the trebuchet and hit both of them. At the time, both Mike and Jacob were rushed to the hospital. Later, viewers learned that Jacob suffered from a bruise on his head. The injury was so severe that doctors had to perform a procedure to relieve swelling and avoid infection. Matt's close friend and farmhand Mike also had a head injury that required stitches.

Matt has spent a long time building up his farm into the perfect escape for his children and guests. However, the incident with the pumpkin launcher proved that his big ideas can sometimes get the best of him. Based on the fact viewers are still talking about it over a decade later, it's clear the close call serves as a reminder for those who follow the show that Matt doesn't always know best even when he's convinced he does.

The most recent season of Little People, Big World wrapped with some family turmoil. Zach is no longer taking over the farm after Matt upped the selling price. Instead, Matt has chosen to bring Jacob back to the farm to help out and post help-wanted signs to annoy his twin boys. Now in the midst of a new pumpkin season, it's unclear if Matt will have any other bad ideas on par with the infamous launcher. However, viewers will be sure to share their opinions if he does.
