Little People, Big World star Matt Roloff has listed the house on his Roloff Farms property as a rental option. Matt previously expressed an interest in selling the house and surrounding land; however, no offers have been made yet. The decision to rent out the residence may seem like a practical decision, but fans think otherwise.
The long road to selling Roloff Farms has caused drama between members of the Roloff family. Son Zach Roloff is no longer speaking to his father, due to a falling out over the future of the farm. Ex-wife Amy Roloff thinks it's time to move on from the feud, and fans agree. While most Little People, Big World fans are done with the family fights, a lot of them are weighing in on the rental property issue, by saying that it seems like a bad decision. In light of the location of the house, the limits on access to the farm, and the steep price, fans think that this may be a mistake for Matt.
LPBW Fans Consider Matt Roloff Greedy
While Roloff Farms is a fun autumn destination, fans of the reality TV family aren't sure that the price of renting the house is worth it. The home is listed on iTrip Vacations at a startling $570.29-1,924 per night, with a minimum three-night stay. The house is also listed on Airbnb for $645/night, with a cleaning fee charge of $360, and a service fee of $324. Although the house is very nice, fans don't feel that the prices are reasonable. Since Matt Roloff has strict rules for people who visit Roloff Farms, most believe that the rules for renters will be equally strict. They think that, when combined with the price potential, visitors will be scared off.
Fans Are Angry About Matt Roloff's Rental Fees & Rules
Fans can't believe how hefty the rental fees actually are. Airbnb lists additional rules for guests to follow, which include stripping the beds before checkout, washing dishes, taking out the trash, and leaving the garbage bins at the curb. Many fans were astounded at how much a vacation at the Roloff home would cost, considering what is offered in return. A Redditor, Yosomad, was amazed at the LPBW charges, writing, "So, you can't use the pool except in the summer months. You currently can't use the hot tub. The six car garage is now a cheesy game room so... you don't have garage parking. Everything that is cool to look at on the property is officially off limits - no leaving the designated grassy yard, no checking out the castle, western town, the pirate ship."
This sentiment was echoed by other Reddit users, as many felt the amenities offered were not reflected in the cost of the rental. Some fans think that the controversial patriarch, who is now with Caryn Chandler, is greedy. They perceive Matt Roloff as being all about money, and the current situation doesn't seem to be changing their opinion.
Some viewers feel that renting the house out in this manner will not generate revenue for Matt. While its proximity to Portland is a plus, there are much cheaper options. Some people on the Reddit thread believe that the house will not be booked very often. A fan on the thread commented, "Yeah but I can stay in a five star hotel in Portland for three nights for a lot less than 2600 (500 for a suite) and I don't have to clean the place, and the hot tub and pool probably work... [it's] only affordable if you have 15 people willing to go in on it." Others feel that they could never stay in the house after watching Little People, Big World, since they've seen how it was used before, and believe that it was constantly a mess.
Little People, Big World fans do not believe that renting out the Roloff home is the best solution for Matt. While some people don't think that Matt should have put the house up for sale, the complexities involved with renting seem like they'll be harder to manage than simply selling the property off. The consensus is that few people will want to stay in the Roloff house at its current rental price, because of all the limits placed on what guests can do. Since guests can't visit most places on the property, and will have so many chores to do (and fees to pay), staying at the reality TV home may not be as appealing as it seems.
