There are a lot of famous Disney movies out there, but perhaps one of the most famous ones is The Little MermaidThis film has been capturing the hearts of people all around the world for a very long time, and there are many reasons why this is true.

One of the things people seem to remember most about this story (other than the leading character) is the music. The songs that can be heard in this cartoon are usually considered classics when it comes to Disney tunes, and it seems like everyone is familiar with them. But, the story itself is great as well. Here are some of the best quotes from this Disney classic.

"Flounder, Don't Be Such A Guppy"

Ariel says this line to her friend Flounder. Even when you don't know the context behind it, it does sound kind of funny. However, there is actually a lot of significance to it that some might only catch on to if they happen to know a lot about fish.

Firstly, the character is named Flounder, which is an actual type of fish. But judging by the way he looks, he is not actually a flounder at all. Furthermore, a guppy is a small type of fish that actually looks a bit cowardly, making it a good fit for a slang term regarding a fearful fish.

"Life's Full Of Tough Choices, Isn't It?"

Ariel and Ursula in The Little Mermaid

This is one of Ursula's lines from the classic Disney film, and the thing that makes it really interesting is that it is true. Ursula is a terrible villain in the best way, meaning that she is really good at doing bad things. Part of what makes her so good at it is the fact that she knows just what to say in order to get Ariel to do what she wants. Many of the things that Ursula says throughout the first Little Mermaid are true, and it shows that she is a villain who knows how to play on the fears and insecurities that other characters have.

"Daddy, They're Not Barbarians!"

There are some lines in The Little Mermaid that sound very much like things people say in real life, and this quote is Ariel's response to such a situation. During the scene in which Ariel says this line, she is having a very serious argument with her father, King Triton, about the beings that she hangs out with.

He does not want her to hang out with human beings, as he thinks that they are barbaric. However, Ariel says this quote to remind him that humans are not like that, which just shows that she is actually a very mature character (for the most part).

"I'm 16 years Old! I'm Not A Child Anymore!"

King Triton And Ariel With Flounder

If there ever was a line to show that teenagers are not grown adults, this is one of them, and fans of The Little Mermaid are probably very familiar with it. During this scene, Ariel becomes quite upset about some of the things that her father is telling her, which is something that nearly everyone has felt at one point or another.

So, she gets very angry with him, and informs him that she is no longer a child. But the only problem with that is that Ariel is still a young teenager, so she is still a child, much to her chagrin.

"Ariel, Please! Will You Get Your Head Out Of The Clouds And Back In The Water Where It Belongs?"

Ariel tends to daydream a lot, and Sebastian says this to her in order to get her back to thinking some relatively realistic thoughts. There are many times throughout The Little Mermaid during which this little animated crab is the voice of reason, and this is a great example of that.

When Ariel falls for Eric after seeing him for the first time, she kind of stops thinking clearly. As a response, Sebastian says a few things like this to her because he is trying to get her to stop having what he considers unrealistic thoughts. However, he eventually sees that she was right to fall for Eric

"It Won't Cost Much! Just Your Voice!"

One of the most epic scenes in the movie is when Ariel signs a contract with Ursula, and that is when the villain says this line. Ariel goes to visit her because she wants to become human so that she can get Eric to fall in love with her.

But the catch is that she will not be able to say (or sing) a word because she loses her voice, so the things she can do to be successful are very limited. Also, little does she know that Ursula plans to sabotage her plans even further once she does become human, since she takes on a beautiful human form herself.

"What Would I Pay To Spend The Day Warm On The Sand?"

Some of the most famous scenes in The Little Mermaid are the ones that show Ariel singing, and this line comes from one of them. The thing that makes this line is good is the fact that even real human beings can relate to it.

While they do get to walk around on two feet all day, people do not always get to spend their time relaxing on warm sand at the beach, but many wish they could. This feeling is certainly something this fictional character shares with actual people. Beaches are always a great source of fun and relaxation.

"Teenagers. They Think They Know Everything. You Give Them An Inch, They Swim All Over You"

Sebastian is often the character that makes the most sense in The Little Mermaid, and this is another line of his that supports that. This is something he says to King Triton after he and Ariel have their argument over her spending time near humans, and there are many times in real life when it seems true.

Lots of parents have experienced some difficulty when it comes to getting their teenagers to listen to them, and that is part of what makes this line so good and funny. This line probably gets a few laughs from many adults that enjoy watching it.

"You Got Your Own Style, Now Let It Shine Through And Remember No Matter What, You've Got To Be You"

There are lots of great lines in many of Disney's classic films, and this is certainly one of them. This is something that Sebastian says in The Little Mermaid, and he says it to Ariel. At this point, Ariel wants to change herself to get Eric to fall for her.

Generally, taking advice from animated characters in Disney movies is not always the best thing to do. But when it comes to this line, it is a really good thing to do. The message in this quote is all about self-acceptance, which is a wonderful thing. Everyone is different, and that is something that is important to remember.

"I Don't Know, He Seems Kind Of Hairy And Slobbery To Me"

Scuttle has some pretty goofy lines in The Little Mermaid, and this one is no different. Many of the things he says in the movie are very memorable, such as the time when he refers to a fork as a "dinglehopper" when he is suggesting that human beings use them to brush their hair.

But during this moment in the movie, Ariel shows him Eric. He thinks she is talking about Eric's dog, and that's when he says this humorous line. This scene doesn't last very long, but it is one that usually gets a few laughs because it shows that Scuttle probably does not even know what a human being looks like.
