Limitless Heroics: Including Characters with Disabilities, Mental Illness and Neurodivergence is a supplement for Dungeons & Dragons 5e that's all about representation and inclusivity. From the get-go, it's apparent that a lot of love and attention to detail went into this project from Wyrmworks Publishing - indexed audio and plain text versions come with every purchase, and the layout is also dyslexia-friendly. The message here is simple - DnD is for everyone.
Limitless Heroics offers a wide variety of character customization options for 5e RPGs - perfect for anyone who wants their character to be more reflective of their real-world self. The sheer amount of content in Limitless Heorics is impressive: There are over 450 traits, over 200 new magic items, 50 sample characters and NPCs with listed pronouns, and a handful of new monster stat blocks and new spells - as well as service animals designed as classes that work similiar to sidekicks.
There's also a one-shot adventure in Limitless Heroics that's ideal for a party of 4-6 members, reccmmended to be around level 5-6. Called Horror of the Shade, this one-shot is a Lovecraftian tale that tasks players with exploring ruins and the tomb of an undead queen. It's a fun, albeit quick, adventure that also provides helpful guidance on how to run more inclusive sessions for DMs wanting more tips for future DnD campaigns. As an introductory adventure, it's fairly easy to DM (perfect for beginners) and serves as a good testing ground for players familiarizing themselves with the traits, items, and mechanics found within the book.
The real success of Limitless Heroics is how comprehensive and easy-to-use it is. There are appendices in the book that go over complications and rule modifications (a necessity with just about any DnD homebrew rules), and there's a wealth of additional resources listed throughout - from explaining correct terminlogy to tips on avoiding stereotypes. There are also plenty of tutorials to guide players and DMs through the processes of incorporating characters, NPCs, and mechanics found in Limitless Heroics into their 5e adventures.
The book's goal is to accurately and respectively depict the experiences of those with diverse conditions, and on this front, Limitless Heroics also succeeds. In fact, according to Wyrmworks, all the writers, editors, and artists are disabled, neurodivergent, and/or have mental or chronic illness. As more inclusivity continues to reach tabletop gaming, Limitless Heroics is a huge and impressive step forward.
