A wholesome piece of Lightyear promotional art imagines Toy Story's Andy going to watch the Buzz Lightyear movie in theaters, surrounded by his toys. Pixar's latest release will explore the origins of the fictional astronaut who served as inspiration for Toy Story's beloved Buzz Lightyear who was originally voiced by Tim Allen. Marvel star Chris Evans now takes the reigns as the heroic space ranger as he and his crew embark on their most daring galactic adventure yet. Alongside Evans, Lightyear also features the vocal talents of Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, Uzo Aduba, and James Brolin.

Lightyear serves as somewhat of a prequel to Pixar's Toy Story films, which saw its most recent installment Toy Story 4 hit theaters in 2019. The films followed a group of toys that belong to a young boy named Andy, with Toy Story 2 & 3 following the toys' journey as Andy began to grow up and naturally lose interest in his childhood playthings, although never truly forgetting about them. Alongside Allen, the films saw Tom Hanks provide the voice for the lovable cowboy Woody, alongside a standout supporting cast that included the likes of Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, and Don Rickles.

Now, a very sweet piece of official Lightyear art imagines Andy going to see the film in theaters, glimpsing the very moment that sparked Andy's love of Buzz Lightyear. Shared to Twitter by @DisneyAPromos, the art, which was created by Tim Evatt, depicts a young Andy sitting in a darkened theater surrounded by his toys. Andy can be seen looking up at the big screen in awe, donning his cowboy hat which matches Woody's, who is sitting on his knee. The art immediately garnered a lot of attention from fans, with many hailing it as "adorable." Check out the art below.

Lightyear was previously revealed to be the film that Andy saw in theaters that lead him to ask for the Buzz Lightyear toy for his birthday, which ultimately then inspired the events of the Toy Story films. Toy Story saw Buzz introduced to Andy's other toys, which causes a number of issues for Woody who then struggles with Andy's newfound obsession with his new 'hero' after having previously been Andy's favorite toy. Given its prequel status, Lightyear is not expected to feature any of Andy's other toys, however, it will introduce the origins of a particular Toy Story 2 villain, the evil emperor Zurg.

In true Pixar style, this sweet art truly tugs on the heartstrings, and audiences can likely expect Lightyear to follow suit as it explores the origins of its galactic hero. The art also serves as the perfect, heartwarming tie-in for those who were hoping for some more obvious callbacks to the Toy Story universe. With Lightyear projected to be a box office hit, it'll be interesting to see if Pixar continues to make more Toy Story spinoffs - either via Lightyear sequels or other movies depicting the origin of Andy's beloved toys.
