Disney held its second annual Disney+ Day today, which saw the streaming platform sneak in a new look at Buzz's suit in the upcoming Pixar film, Lightyear, amidst all of the other major announcements. The excitement around Lightyear has been massive since its first trailer released a few weeks ago. It quickly became Pixar's second most-viewed trailer in 24 hours online, only beaten by The Incredibles 2. Development on the movie began back in 2016 after the studio released Finding Dory. In December 2020, during Disney's Investor Meeting, the studios announced the spinoff.

Lightyear will give viewers a chance to see the origin of the hero Buzz Lightyear, but not the toy. In the Toy Story universe, Buzz (Tim Allen) is a toy based off of a popular space pilot. This movie will see the origins of that person and how he became so popular in-universe. There are currently no other details about the plot that have been released so far. Buzz will be voiced by Chris Evans, who is currently the only voice cast member confirmed by Disney.

Sneakily shown off during the Disney+ Day announcements, a new banner revealed a new look at the iconic Buzz Lightyear suit, which can be seen on Disney+. While there were no announcements pertaining to Lightyear since it will be a theatrical release, it was a surprise for fans to see a new look at the character. Besides the first look and the trailer for Lightyear, this is the only other official image that has been released so far. Check out the image below:

The new look at Buzz's suit is sure to excite longtime fans of the franchise and those who are looking forward to the movie. As seen previously, the suit has all of the iconic enhancements that Buzz Lightyear has in the Toy Story movies. He has his wings, jet boots, laser, and iconic purple headgear (which he is not sporting in this Disney+ banner). It is clear that Pixar is making sure they keep the suit looking and feeling as close to the original as they can while also giving it the sci-fi action adventure movie feel that Lightyear seems to be going for. The movie will explore the origins of Buzz's suit, which will give audiences more background on the iconic space ranger.

While there has not been much marketing for the movie yet, it is nice to see it get some of the spotlight during the already packed Disney+ Day. The Toy Story movie franchise seemingly ended in 2019 with the release of Toy Story 4, but thankfully, Pixar has said that the door is not closed on the idea of another. People who have been wanting more content from the Toy Story universe are getting what they wished for as the release of Lightyear draws closer.
