The developer of Life is Strange has revealed both good and bad news in a new update, confirming the release date for the Life is Strange: True Colors DLC while simultaneously announcing the delay of the Life is Strange Remastered Collection. True Colors is the next game in the beloved series, and will star the new Life is Strange protagonist Alex Chen.

Life is Strange: True Colors was announced earlier this year, and will see Chen battle with the issues that come with her psychic power of Empathy. Chen will be solving the mystery surrounding her brother's death, in what promises to be yet another emotionally-charged narrative rollercoaster ride that the series is now known for. As well as unravelling the mystery, fans will be able to pursue different romance options with Ryan and Steph, with the latter being a character returning to the series. The new addition to the LiS series was announced alongside the Life is Strange Remastered Collection, which will include the original game along with its prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, complete with enhanced visuals and improved animations.

Sharing the news on Twitter, the team behind Life Is Strange announced the release date of the Life is Strange: True Colors DLC, Wavelengths. The DLC will star Steph Gingrich, first seen in Life is Strange: Before the Storm, and will release on September 30. A new trailer for the DLC will be revealed tomorrow, August 12. The development team also shared news that the Life is Strange Remastered Collection will be delayed "due to the ongoing challenges of the worldwide pandemic," and to give more time between the release of True Colors and the remasters. Life is Strange Remastered Collection has a new release window of "early 2022," with more news to be announced in the future.

Life is Strange: True Colors is due to release in just a matter of weeks, with its launch scheduled for September 10. It seems unlikely that the game will be delayed at this point, and with the release date for the Wavelengths DLC now locked in, a delay for that also doesn't seem to be on the cards. The Life is Strange Remastered Collection was originally intended to release in fall this year, making its delay until early 2022 a potentially substantial one. While many will be disappointed with the news, it will likely benefit the game in the long run, allowing for more polish and improvements.

While not too much is known about the Wavelengths DLC, players will find out more when the official trailer is released tomorrow. The developer hasn't announced a time for the reveal, but has advised fans to keep an eye on its social media channels to see the trailer when it releases. Life is Strange: True Colors was set to include access to the Life is Strange Remastered Collection if players opted to purchase the Ultimate Edition of the game. Those who have will still receive both remasters as part of the bundle when they release in 2022.
