Sarah Simmons is a Life After Lockup star who spoke exclusively with Screen Rant about Michael Simmons' poor parenting decisions.

Sarah and Michael have shared their troubled love story through their appearances in the Love After Lockup franchise. After starting off as the wife in Michael's love triangle, Sarah learned that Michael was not the same man she fell in love with prior to his incarceration. She came to this realization following his release from prison. Before he went to prison, the former couple already had one daughter together, Aviahna. Upon his release, the Life After Lockup lovebirds shacked up fast and conceived their second daughter, Giahna. However, Michael continued to pursue relationships with other women, and Sarah knew it was time to move on. Now, with Michael living in Miami and Sarah living in New York, fans watch as she calls out her ex for not being as present in their daughter's lives as he should be.

In Life After Lockup season four, viewers watch as Sarah enjoys the early stages of her newfound romance with Malcolm. After Michael comes to New York to visit his girls, the awkward tension is evident, thanks to Sarah's new boyfriend being around. During an exclusive chat with Screen Rant, Sarah gave an update on how her husband is doing in the parenting department amid the pandemic. "Obviously from everything that people have seen, it is very inconsistent," she said, with regard to how often Michael from Life After Lockup comes to see his daughters. She continued: "It is far few and between, and it's not at all something that I feel like my kids can understand." She went on to explain the difference in how present they are in their kids' lives: "On one hand, you have Mom who's here day in and day out, who does everything for you; who is there for you no matter what. And then you have a dad who comes and goes and doesn't always call. So, that's extremely difficult, I'm sure, for the kids. Especially my oldest, Aviahna."

She also took into account the period when Michael was serving time in jail and she was left raising their oldest daughter alone. She said, "I have to remember, it was just her and me for three years while he was locked up, and you're five years old. So, is this extremely different from what she's used to? Probably not." Despite how the situation could negatively impact their daughters, Sarah made sure to note the importance of her role in their life, "Even though it probably sucks. All I know is that I have to believe I'm enough. I have to believe that being able to allow her to express herself and ask questions and give appropriate time to talk to her about it is the best thing I can do."

As the Life After Lockup season continues, fans see Michael's excitement as he pursues new romances with women while also making an effort to spend more time with his daughters. Most recently, the WeTV star was arrested for child neglect in Florida, Sarah took to Instagram afterward to confirm that the charge against Michael had nothing to do with her children.
