Liam Sharp's comic, Starhenge, has found a home with Image ComicsThe Green Lantern artist had previously discussed the work on social media, gauging interest for the potential series. It seems like enough interest has been found to merit future publication - within the next year!

In August, Liam Sharp shared his thoughts on intellectual properties and creativity within comics, particularly with regard to traditional comic companies. During this discussion he reflected on the potential role of Kickstarter in the future within the comic industry. This also led to the sharing of a concept for an "Arthurian epic" Sharp was interested in creating, titled Starhenge.

Now, on Twitter, Liam Sharp has shared the good news that Image Comics will be the future home of Starhenge. Following a grant of permission from Image for an interview, the announcement came on December 20. Starhenge will be coming next June, as both a series and trade paperback. There will be an oversize collector's hard cover edition available on Kickstarter via Sharpy Productions. Covers for the first issue of the series have already been revealed and Sharp previously had shared information about what fans could expect from the story.

According to Sharp, the covers "represent future (Merlin) present (Amber Weaver) and past (Arthur)." Arthur is pictured with a sword, while Merlin is the "robot-y one" pictured alongside a character named Mor-Dread. There will also be variant covers provided by other artists which have not been revealed yet. Sharp has called it a "curious mix of heroic fantasy, hard sci-fi and present day romance, wicca and witchery..." Sharp previously mentioned the project back in July, stating that it was planned to be a four book graphic novel series, with Book One being titled "The Dragon and the Boar." It is inspired by Arthurian legends from the 5th century, as well as work done by Sir Thomas Malory, the compiler of the classic King Arthur publication Le Morte D'Arthur.

Liam Sharp is well-known for his art on Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. He has also recently worked on Batman: Reptilian. The acclaimed artist has shared numerous glimpses of artwork for the series on his Twitter page. The art is stunning and fans of his work are in for a treat next year when this series begins releasing. Image Comics is known for its creator-owned approach to comic publishing, making it a fitting partner for a project like this. The series has already seen an outpouring of support, which will hopefully carry over and spread come next summer. Image Comics has not yet shared any additional information via press release or on its website, but more will likely come as the publishing date draws nearer. Fans can see the latest take on Arthurian legends when Liam Sharp's Starhenge, releases June 2022.
