The pairing took a small break after The Departed finally gave Scorsese a Best Picture Oscar win. It was then in 2010 that DiCaprio starred in Scorsese's mystery thriller Shutter Island. The two famously worked together again in 2013 for The Wolf of Wall Street, which is often cited as their best collaboration. DiCaprio has not appeared in a Scorsese movie since then, even though the director made two more films. He is set to play a supporting role in Scorsese's upcoming 2023 movie Killers of the Flower Moon, which will be their sixth movie together.

The first boat, which lands on the coast of Brazil, holds 30 emaciated men who claim they are the surviving crew of a British ship that crashed on a remote island. The second ship arrives on the coast of Chile six months later and in worse condition, holding three sailors who claim the other men are mutineers. The naval survival tale builds to a trial by the British Admiralty to learn what really happened between the two ships and the harsh conditions the men struggled to survive in.
Unsurprisingly, The Wager sounds unlike any of the other collaborations between DiCaprio and Scorsese. Their movies routinely explore different genres and settings, giving both artists a chance to do something new together. The pairing has also resulted in some of Martin Scorsese's best movies. While there is no news on when audiences will be able to see Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese's seventh movie together, that will not stop fans of their individual works and collaborations together from getting excited about The Wager. Now, the pairing just needs to finish Killers of the Flower Moon to shift focus to the new movie.
