Every character class in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga can be upgraded to either enhance their base skills or introduce new abilities. There are nine character classes in the game, and most of them have specific abilities that can only be used by characters in that class. The characters that share abilities, like the Jedi and the Dark Side, have different upgrades that make them distinguishable.

Along with character class upgrades, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has unlockable core skills that affect every character. Health upgrades, the ability to detect collectibles, and faster movement speed are all skills that apply to every character regardless of class. The upgrades available for each class generally enhance the specific skills of those characters rather than the base mechanics that everyone shares.

Each character class in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has four upgradeable skills and three tiers for each skill. The higher tiers increase the percentage or effectiveness of the ability. For example, some character classes can bypass terminals, but completing the challenge earns bonus Studs. The Stud bonus amount is increased with each tier that's unlocked. Character class upgrades need to be purchased using Studs and Kyber Bricks, which are collectibles found all over the galaxy. A lot of the Kyber Bricks will require specific character classes to obtain, so it's important to know what each one can do.

Jedi Abilities In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Every Class That Can Be Upgraded Jedi

The Jedi class is combat-focused and has the ability to use the Force in combat. They can control or throw objects, use Force Push, and toss their Lightsabers to damage other characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. This class's skills also include Mind Tricks that the Jedi can use to distract and influence characters or cause them to panic. The Jedi class's Lightsabers make them the best suited, along with the Dark Side, for melee combat which is usually more effective than ranged combat.

  • Force Flinger: Increase attack damage caused by objects thrown with the Force.
  • Jedi Reflexes: Successful Combat Counters are more powerful and damage nearby enemies.
  • Trick Time: Increase the duration of Distract and Panic Jedi Mind Tricks.
  • Mind Master: Increase the range of effect for Distract and Panic Mind Tricks.

Every Hero Ability In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Every Class That Can Be Upgraded Hero

Hero characters, along with the Bounty Hunter class, are able to use their Grapple Blasters to reach climbing bars or pull objects. The Hero class is the only one that can get enemies to drop disguises that allow them to sneak around. Hero Terminals that are used to open up new areas are also specific to this class. Although Heroes don't excel in combat in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, they are pretty useful for Shooting Galleries found around the galaxy.

  • Improved Shield Generator: Increase the shield for ships piloted by Hero characters.
  • Armored Disguise: Adds defense boost to equipped armor pieces, reducing damage taken.
  • Rebel Heart: Increase how often defeated enemies will drop Recovery Hearts.
  • Hero Expert Terminal: Hero Terminal interactions can be bypassed or completed for bonus Studs.

Abilities Scavengers Have In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Every Class That Can Be Upgraded Scavenger

There are climbing challenges and puzzles across the galaxy that the Scavenger class is best suited for. These characters can build a Glider, Breaker Blaster, or Net Launcher at any time, and there are a lot of puzzles that require one or more of these tools. Like Jedi and Dark Side characters, they have the ability to wall run or use twirl poles. Although less useful in combat, Scavengers are one of the best classes to use when exploring the galaxy in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

  • Crafty: Add new color schemes for Scavenger Tools.
  • Expert Climber: Increase climbing speed.

Scoundrel Abilities In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Scoundrels are able to sense opportunities for weak points, such as determining where to shoot to cut off power to a door. They're also the only class that can complete Smuggling Run Missions and Smuggling Run Ambushes, which usually unlock Kyber Bricks or new characters. Scoundrels are also good to use for Shooting Galleries found in hub areas because some of them can fire faster than other characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

  • Business Opportunist: Receive a Stud discount when purchasing Rumors and Hints in the Holoprojector.
  • Charged Shot: Hold the fire button down, then release when the weapon flashes to fire a Charged Shot. This powerful shot causes 25% more damage and bounces off surfaces.
  • Combat Slide: Press the heavy attack button while running to perform a Combat Slide, causing damage to enemies and objects.
  • Piercing Rounds: Pierce through cover with ranged attacks, inflicting damage on enemies behind it.

Abilities Bounty Hunters Have In LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga

There aren't many Bounty Hunters in the game, but they have a decent set of useful skills for players to utilize. In order to fully beat LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, players can't ignore Bounty Hunters. This class is the only set of characters that can destroy gold crates and complete Bounty Missions. Gold crates are scattered across the galaxy and found in story missions. The gold crates usually contain Kyber Bricks which can be used to upgrade character abilities. After upgrades are purchased, Bounty Hunters earn extra Studs or use Shock Grenades in combat, making them effective characters for replaying battle-heavy story missions.

  • Enemy Detector: Detect enemies through walls and other surfaces.
  • Hidden Bounties: Collect a bounty of Studs from defeated enemies.
  • Scattershot: Bounty Hunter weapons fire a spread of bolts, causing damage across a wider range.
  • Shock Grenade: Press the heavy attack button to throw a Shock Grenade which briefly stuns enemies and disables energy shields.

The Villain class in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has a few unique abilities that make them essential party members while exploring and repeating missions. Throughout the story, players will come across Villain weapon crates or silver crates that need to be blown up. Along with destroying the silver crates, Villains can also use their grenades during combat, making them the only class that can use explosives to destroy multiple enemies at once.

  • Demolitions Expert: Grenades cause explosive damage over a larger range.
  • Extra Ammo: Weapons found in Weapon Drop Crates carry more ammo for each gun, allowing them to be used for longer.

Dark Side Abilities In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Every Class That Can Be Upgraded Dark Side

Dark Side characters have all of the same basic abilities as the Jedi class including Force Combat, Mind Tricks, and Lightsaber throwing. The available upgrades are what sets this class apart from the Jedi. Dark Side upgrades are focused on doing more damage or instilling fear into NPCs. Dark Side characters are also the only ones besides Protocol Droids that can understand the Sith Cultists on Exegol. Although they're very similar to the Jedi class, the Dark Side characters are great for combat and causing problems in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

  • Fear the Dark Side: Enemies and civilians will have an increased chance of running away in fear and from a further distance.
  • Power Push: Force Push will knock back more enemies and objects over a wider range.
  • Force Crush: Repeatedly damage enemies grabbed with the Force.
  • Dark Rise: Boost the power and capabilities of Force Lift.

Astromech Abilities Are Helpful In LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Every Class That Can Be Upgraded Astromech Droid

Astromech Droids, like R2-D2, are the only ones that can interact with an Astromech Socket. These terminals are usually used to unlock doors or hack a certain device. They are necessary throughout the story and while exploring the galaxy and uncovering hidden collectibles. Astromech Droids can be used in combat, but they aren't as effective are other classes. However, Astromech Droids can also be used to avoid combat completely. Other characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga usually won't consider Astromech Droids to be threatening, so they can sneak by without triggering a battle unless the fight is part of the main story.

  • Distraction: Project a hologram that distracts nearby enemies for a period of time.
  • Droid Barge: Press the heavy attack button while moving to slide into enemies, causing damage.
  • Astromech Socket Expert: Astromech Socket interactions can be bypassed or completed for bonus Studs.
  • Super-Charged: Add a shockwave to stun prod attacks, which damages nearby enemies.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - Protocol Droid Abilities

LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Every Class That Can Be Upgraded Protocol Droid

Like the Astromech Droid, Protocol Droids are great for stealth because they aren't usually seen as a threat. However, Protocol Droids go a bit further than Astromech Droids in terms of usefulness. The Protocol Terminals have more options, such as controlling turrets, downloading passwords, or turning off alarms. These characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga can also interpret foreign languages and disassemble to enter small passageways and find secrets. Protocol Droids are extremely useful characters outside of combat encounters, so one should be included on a player's team while exploring.

  • Destructive Disassembly: Release a shockwave when disassembling, damaging nearby enemies.
  • Paid Translator: Receive bonus Studs for translating alien languages.
  • Polished Plating: Add a chance of deflecting bolts fired from enemy weapons.
  • Turret Tune-up: Bolts fired from Protocol Terminal Turrets will bounce off surfaces, increasing their chances of hitting enemies.
