There are various skills and upgrades to unlock in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but certain ones are more useful than others. Upgrades can be accessed from the game menu, and there are 10 separate categories of skills. The core upgrades affect every character regardless of their class. The rest of the upgrades are broken up into categories, meaning they only apply to specific characters.

There are nine character classes in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and each one has specific skills. For example, Scavengers can build tools like Gliders that can only be used by that class, and Scoundrels can identify weak points. While exploring, players will need to use certain characters to interact with objects and find collectibles such as Kyber Bricks. Upgrades can only be purchased when players have enough Studs and Kyber Bricks.

For the character class skills, the first tier costs four Kyber Bricks and 10,000 Studs. The second tier, which increases the effectiveness of the skill, costs eight Kyber Bricks and 25,000 Studs. Fully upgrading a class skill will cost an additional 12 Kyber Bricks and 50,000 Studs. The core upgrades have separate costs. The health upgrades will be the most expensive, but they only have one tier each. Once players do some exploring and collect a few Kyber Bricks, they can start buying upgrades.

The Most Useful Skills In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Best Skills to Unlock First Upgrade Menu

When first starting out, there are a lot of benefits to focusing on core upgrades in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Since these skills affect all characters, they will be useful for playing through the story. Health increases, as well as melee and ranged attack boosts, are all part of the core upgrade category. However, players will need to fully unlock a row to access the next one. To start out, players should at least buy the necessary skills to unlock the Collectible Detector. Reaching the second tier of the Collectible Detector will highlight Kyber Bricks making it easier to collect them and unlock more upgrades faster.

Story Mode missions are mostly played with Hero and Jedi characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, with a few others, like Scavengers and Scoundrels, mixed in. Many of the boss fights are completed with Jedi characters, so buying Force Flinger and Jedi Reflexes makes these battles easier. For those that want to earn Studs quickly, or make True Jedi easier to earn, there are skills that can be unlocked for every class that uses Terminals. These skills will award bonus Studs for completing Terminal puzzles instead of bypassing them.

There are a few additional skills that can be useful early on. If players are exploring, they can earn extra Studs with Bounty Hunters in battle after unlocking the Hidden Bounties skill. Protocol Droids can also have a skill that awards Studs for translating alien languages. However, these skills have a low Stud payout, so they don't need to be purchased first. There are a lot of skills to choose from in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but the best skills to buy early are ones that increase the player's attack power and their ability to find collectibles efficiently.
