Marvel Entertainment, in partnership with The LEGO Group, officially announces a brand new LEGO special in LEGO Marvel Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom.

The announcement for Vexed by Venom arrives days after Sony's live-action film, Venom, featuring Tom Hardy as the titular character hit theaters. The movie is tipped to become the first installment of the studio's planned cinematic universe revolving around Spider-Man tie-in characters. And while there wasn't any appearance from Tom Holland's version of the character (who now exists in the MCU) that's not to say that there won't be any crossovers in the future. The Ruben Fleischer-directed flick effectively teases a sequel towards the end. Aside from the Venom main continuity, Sony is also gearing for  Jared Leto's Morbius the Living Vampire, as well as the Silver Sable and Black Cat standalone movie.

Marvel Entertainment announced on the last day of this year's New York Comic Con during the Marvel Animation Presents that a new animated LEGO special will be coming next year. Vexed by Venom will feature the voices of Robbie Daymond as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Ben Pronsky as Venom, Josh Keaton as Green Goblin, Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider, and Tara Strong as Mary Jane. The premise for the project was also revealed, read it below:

"In the special, tech theft is now at an all-time high thanks to Green Goblin & Venom-- can our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man put an end to their mysterious villainous scheme before all of New York City is destroyed?"

Lego Spider-Man

Vexed by Venom joins the ranks of several collaborations between Marvel & The LEGO Group over the last couple of years which include LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Avengers Reassembled, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat, and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda. Unfortunately, no word as of yet as to when fans can expect it to arrive and it's also uncertain whether or not it will be streamed online like its predecessors. But now that it is officially announced, fans can expect to learn more about the project in the months to come.

At this point, there's no word yet if there are any plans for a crossover between Holland's Parker and Hardy's Brock/Venom. Mysterio, VultureHydro-Man, Chameleon, and Molten Man are supposed to be the bad guys in Spider-Man: Far From Homewhich is the next live-action film headlined by the web-slinging hero. Obviously, a live-action presentation is different from an animated one, but fans of the rivalry between the two (with Green Goblin in the mix) can look forward to LEGO Marvel Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom in the meantime while waiting for the two's live-action (re)match-up.
