Despite being the biggest media franchise in the world, Pokémon still hasn't landed a collaboration with the popular building toy company LEGO in 2022. With no hint of a project between the companies happening anytime soon, many Pokémon fans have taken matters into their own hands and have created their own custom LEGO Pokémon builds. These incredible fan projects range from re-creating popular Pokémon, to fully capturing Pokémon Gold and Silver's map in LEGO form.

Although Pokémon and LEGO seem like the perfect match given their massive fan bases and matching demographics, the two companies are unlikely to work together. When it came to licensing out their series for toys, the Pokémon Company signed a deal with Mattel's Mega Brand to make "Mega Construx" sets. Unfortunately, Mattel is a major rival to LEGO, which explains why there hasn't been a Pokémon x LEGO release despite the huge demand for it. A Pokémon LEGO collaboration was rejected by LEGO in 2014 despite a fan campaign rallying behind it.

Instead of waiting around for the impossible, many LEGO and Pokémon fans have joined together to make their own builds. There are even forums such as Reddit entirely dedicated to creating these special projects. Despite being fan-made, some of these sets are so well done that they could easily be mistaken for an official product. Here is a list of some impressive LEGO Pokémon fan builds we wish were sets actually sold in stores.

Shiny Charizard Pokémon LEGO

Impressive LEGO Pokemon Fan Builds We Wish Were Sets Shiny Charizard

In March 2022, Pokémon YouTuber Brickmill Studios went viral online after sharing their mind-blowing Shiny Charizard LEGO build. The avid LEGO builder even uploaded a ten-minute tutorial video that showed Pokémon fans every single brick needed to construct the massive Kanto Fire-type Starter. The Shiny Charizard LEGO build captures every detail of the Generation 1 Pokémon including the fire glowing from its tail, as well as the red skin under its two wings.

As if that wasn't impressive enough, the YouTube channel has now created a handful of custom Pokémon LEGO builds such as the Legendary Titans Regirock, Regice, Registeel, as well as Sword and Shield's Regieleki and Regidrago. The incredibly detailed projects are so good, that any Pokémon fan would love to buy them as official LEGO sets if they were actually sold as a retail product.

Pokémon Center LEGO

As a part of the LEGO Ideas program which launched in 2008, user Savath_Bunny made waves on the site when they posted their impressive Pokémon Center LEGO build in 2014. The accurate re-creation of the iconic healing center from the Pokémon series was an instant hit with fellow LEGO fans, who urged the toy company to make it into an official set.

The LEGO Pokémon build is packed full of details, such as Nurse Joy's healing counter that sits in the center of the building. The amazing Pokémon Center LEGO build also includes an adorable miniature version of Cerulean Gym Leader Misty riding on her bike from the Pokémon anime series.

LEGO Pokémon Gengar Graveyard

Impressive LEGO Pokemon Fan Builds We Wish Were Sets Gengar Cemetery

Brazilian digital artist PokeMocsBR has created a Pokémon diorama that’s so eerie it will give players nightmares. Their mockup features Gen 1 Pokémon Gengar in a graveyard, surrounded by all manner of scary things. There are vines, skulls, bones, and even a creepy bat, just to name a few.

This fits in with Gengar’s Dark-type theming completely and would be a great set to release on Halloween for the spooky Trainers out there who want to celebrate with a LEGO build. PokeMocsBR has also conjured up other ideas such as a Jigglypuff singing on stage, a Geodude in an underground mine, and Ash from the Pokémon anime show camping out with Charmander.

Professor Oak's Lab Pokémon LEGO set

This LEGO set is every budding Kanto Trainer’s dream: the place where they pick their Pokémon and start their journey to becoming the very best like no one ever was. Owning and building this in real life would be the next best thing to actually being there and selecting their starter.

Not only is the Pallet Town lab itself recreated perfectly, including the Pokédex on the table in the back and the three starter Poké Balls, but it also features three LEGO Minifigures of Ash, Gary, and Professor Oak from Pokémon Red and Blue. The lab wall even lifts up so the builder can access the inside with no issues. Team BRICKREATE's 1,579-piece Pokémon idea was created in 2013 but, unfortunately, has never become a reality. Still, fans can dream that a set like this will one day be sold on store shelves.

Life-Size LEGO Pokémon

Pokemon LEGO Life-Size Statues Gen 1

For as long as the Pokémon series has existed, fans have wished that Pokémon were actually real. LEGO Master Builder Dave Holder almost made that a reality in 2020 when he unveiled his life-sized Pokémon LEGO builds in a viral Reddit thread. The giant brick versions of Charmander, Pikachu, Togepi, and Eevee left Pokémon fans in awe due to their jaw-dropping size.

With the Pokémon LEGO builds requiring a ridiculous amount of bricks to complete, the life-size sets would be a perfect hobby for Pokémon fans to get lost in. Because the Pokémon franchise originated as an 8-bit RPG on the Game Boy in 1998, Pokémon also look incredibly accurate when created in LEGO bricks.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus LEGO

Impressive LEGO Pokemon Fan Builds We Wish Were Sets Pokemon Legends Arceus

In celebration of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon fan crhj_mocs built a set from real LEGO bricks that every Trainer will want. In the game, players gain a Wyrdeer mount and can go galloping around Hisui to their heart’s content - something that the builder recreated perfectly with their mockup. The themed set features the main character as a Minifigure, riding through some rocky terrain on the back of Pokémon Legends: Arceus mount Wyrdeer, which houses the saddle for the protagonist to sit on like in the adventure game. There’s even a hidden Unown behind a rock, which is a nod to the 26 Unown players can find scattered throughout the region by solving riddles tied to their locations.

While it doesn't seem like the Pokémon franchise will get collaborate with LEGO anytime soon, fans have already proven that you don't need an official product to create the perfect Pokémon build. With LEGO's insane customizability, the sky is the limit with what Pokémon players can create. Still, some of these builds are so good, that many Pokémon fans wish they were real sets.
