The LEGO NES set hits stores soon, and already a special Easter Egg has been found that should give fans of all things Nintendo, LEGO and Mario the most brick for their buck. The set already sports some incredible features, such as a buildable level from the original Super Mario Bros. and a small-scale model of the NES console.

The upcoming set is primed to be a big seller for LEGO, as it gives gamers and veteran builders something both nostalgic and time-consuming to spend their hard-earned dollars on. On top of the level and the console design the set sports a makeshift model of an 80s-style TV set, which has the Mario track built inside, allows players to control the heroic plumbers across the level via a crank on the side of the TV. Include with that a replica of the NES controller and a game cartridge for Super Mario Bros. that can fit into the console, and the set as a whole is meant to give veteran builders the complete experience of reliving their youthful gaming memories (if they're bored of their NES minis), and young builders something to talk to their parents about.

But even for all the set offers at face value, there's something hidden away in the design that's been kept secret by LEGO until now. IGN recently detailed their building experience, and towards the end detailed the hidden perk - fit with a spoiler warning for anyone who wants to go in fresh. Apparently, there's a hollow section inside the design, of which the developers build the model of World 1-2 of Super Mario. Included are the exit pipes that take you to the first Warp Zone, and Wong wrote that - to his surprise - when you get to the Warp Zone there are then three more pipes that lead to Worlds 2, 3 and 4.

NES LEGO Super Mario Bros

This little detail goes the extra mile in bringing the Nintendo experience to life and is just one more perk that may make buyers feel better about throwing down the $229.99 cost. LEGO is also releasing their Super Mario Adventures Starter Pack, which includes a LEGO Mario and buildable track with a Goompa and Baby Bowser. Should customers buy both the Starter Pack and the NES, they can use the Mario from the pack to place on top of the NES TV, which will then allow the crank-operated track to send out classic Super Mario sounds as go through the level.

All in all, this set - while expensive - is shaping up to be one tremendous LEGO set fans are likely to buy up in droves - especially if they're tired of all the LEGO games out in the world. So much detail was put into creating the set to make it feel like a unique building experience you would be proud to display when the last brick is neatly placed in. All that's next are some expansion packs that could include other NES game and levels to build - or just jump ahead a few years and give customers that very necessary LEGO N64 model.
