Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz leads the growing cast for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Warner Bros. Animation found big success in turning everyone's favorite building bricks into a movie. While the idea may have been laughed at initially, the creation of the world established in The LEGO Movie laid the foundation for a universe to grow. Unfortunately, the spinoffs the followed - The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie - were not as well-received financially, but they still made quite a bit of money.

Despite the last two outings not making as much money, Warner Bros. Animation hopes the mainline sequel will become another phenomenon. Phil Lord and Chris Miller have shifted directing duties to Mike Mitchell this time around, but they're still on board as writers and producers, so it will still feel like the first movie. As for the voice cast, a large majority of the original voice actors are returning, but they will also co-star with new addition Tiffany Haddish - and she won't be the only new character.

According to Deadline, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz has joined The LEGO Movie 2 as Sweet Mayhem. The outlet shared a new look at the character, but fans already saw her on the newly released official poster. The poster has Sweet Mayhem's helmet showing the reflection of Emmet (Chris Pratt), Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett), Unikitty (Allison Brie), and Metal Beard (Nick Offerman). Arturo Castro from Broad City has also joined the cast as Ice Cream Cone.

Beatriz's most recognizable roles may be in front of the camera, but she isn't a stranger to just lending her voice as she'll do for this sequel. She's previously lent her voice to TV shows Axe CopDanger & Eggs, and Bob's Burgers, while also doing so on the big screen with Ice Age: Collision Course. Considering Sweet Mayhem's prominent placement on the poster, this should be a much bigger role than any of the other appearances. Castro meanwhile hasn't done any voice roles in the past, but has plenty of experience on both TV and in movies.

There's still plenty left to learn about The LEGO Movie 2 and it won't be long before much more is revealed. The poster release and this casting news are just the beginning with the first trailer set to arrive tomorrow (as of this writing). Even though it may largely focus on the characters fans are already familiar with, it should also contain some looks at Beatriz's character and likely even Haddish's Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi. Depending on big of a role Castro has to play, we could see or hear him too.
