After a fun first two seasons, the always competitive building contest show Lego Masters is set to return for a third season in 2022. To hold fans over until the premiere, a special Jurassic World episode aired, perfectly timed to coincide with the release of the trilogy'ss final film. This was the second episode that Lego Masters based on a successful franchise, joining the Star Wars episode from season 1.

Looking for more intricate builds based on their favorite franchises, Reddit users had a discussion on possible themes that could be used in future seasons. Considering their two themed episodes have been among the show's most popular to date, all of these franchises should be on the table.

Transformers

Optimus Prime and his Transformers.

Reddit user hosehliao brought up the massively successful Transformers series, commenting, "Now that Lego has an Optimus Prime set, a Transformer robot would be interesting and also a highly technical challenge." Building an Autobot or Decepticon would be a tall task, but one that any Lego building master should be up for.

A Transformer build would be very unique, as the robots take the form of a vehicle in addition to their recognizable robotic state. Building something that can take on both of these forms would be both impressive and entertaining to see go through the stages of development.

Marvel

Redditor cf_pt brought up what is probably the most popular franchise out right now, writing "Marvel could be pretty amazing. Each team gets a character to build a story around." The MCU's recent Doctor Strange film did extremely well, so while the franchises biggest hits have probably already come out, it is still a lucrative series.

With a superstar cast of some of the most recognizable superheroes, there would be more than enough material to go around for every Lego building team. Whether it be the serenity of Wakanda or the grandness of Asgard, some truly phenomenal sets could be created. Also, the Australian version of Lego Masters has done a Marvel-themed episode that was an undisputed success, so the U.S. could certainly follow their lead.

Harry Potter

Being at the forefront of the entertainment industry for over two decades now, it is not a surprise that thealienamongus mentioned the Harry Potter franchise in their comment. The franchise started off as a series of novels before becoming one of the best film franchises based on a book series of all time, with all eight films being massive box office hits.

The Harry Potter universe is known for having grand environments and breathtaking architecture, with places such as Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and Platform 9 and 3/4 all being perfect topics of a potentially epic Lego build.

Ghostbusters

The original 1984 ghostbusters.

Ghostbusters has been a cultural phenomenon for parts of five decades now, leading user TyrialFrost to request it as the centerpiece of a themed Lego Masters episode. With four films and a bundle of TV shows and video games under its umbrella, there is definitely a sufficient level of inspiration that builders can take from the franchise to develop Lego set builds.

The squad's firehouse headquarters and Ecto-1 transport vehicles would certainly be featured, while building scenes of the busters battling ghosts could also be really cool for viewers to see take shape in real time.

Lord Of The Rings

Much like Harry Potter, the Lord Of The Rings franchise was originally a highly regarded book series that translated perfectly to the big screen. Reddit poster Jenna_Ryanne requested an episode based on the franchise.

The J.R.R. Tolkien novels painted vivid pictures of what exactly the settings looked like, and the film crew delivered on the detailed descriptions, filming on sight to create some beautifully crafted cinematography. Middle Earth is loaded with buildable locations that the seasoned Lego creators should have plenty of fun creating.

Studio Ghibli

Anime has grown to be wildly popular in the United States, and Studio Ghibli films are widely regarded to be some of the best films of all time across any genre. Redditor victoryforZIM advocated for an episode with builds based on their large catalog of films.

The animation studio is known for making films with stunning frames and beautiful settings, with films like Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle being among the best candidates for Lego depictions of them.

Disney Princesses

Belle dancing with the beast.

Disney films are among the most essential and popular films to ever come out, and the franchise has been open to lending its name to reality shows in the past. American Idol, for example, has done an episode themed around Disney films, so Reddit commenter thealienamongus pushed for them, specifically commenting "Disney Princesses."

Almost every princess has had a beautiful castle or place of residence, so building those out of Legos alongside the princess in one of her beautiful dresses could make for a magnificent build. With the number of people who grew up watching these films as well, it should be instantly familiar and nostalgic too.

Indiana Jones

The Indiana Jones franchise has already cemented its place as a blockbuster film franchise, with its fifth installment set to release in 2023. Considering the renewed interest around the franchise due to the excitement about its return to the big screen, LordOfReading commented "Indiana Jones, Lego has a lot of Indiana Jones and Jones inspired sets, a great way for storytelling and would be cool to see all the traps they could make."

Jones is an archaeologist exploring ancient locations, so naturally, the franchise would be a solid fit for a Lego Masters special. Plenty of boxed Lego sets also contain locations and themes from the franchise, so it would be quite intriguing to see how the greatest Lego builders in the United States put their own spin on them.

Mad Max

Known for its stunning post-apocalyptical wasteland environments, Mad Max was a suggestion brought up on Reddit by user TyrialFrost. The franchise has four films under its name, with 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road helping revive the quintessential 80's action series.

Lego builds based on this franchise should be a good challenge for builders, with the very best producing some really impressive final products. The most recent film in the franchise was praised for its spectacular cinematography and set designs, so basing builds off of any of the film's locations should lead to some really great creations.

Friday The 13th

Friday the 13 Jason Voorhees

TyrialFrost came up with a bit of an outside-of-the-box suggestion that could work perfectly on season 3. With the season being delayed to the final third of the year, an episode could potentially air the same week as Halloween. An episode with haunting builds based on the Friday The 13th franchise would be a perfect match.

With twelve films in its catalog, the iconic slasher film franchise has a ton of source material to pull from. Everyone loves to get into the spooky spirit for that time of year, and Friday The 13th is one of the best and most recognizable horror franchises to use.
