LEGO 2K Drive Custom Vehicle Sharing Confirmed For Post-Launch Update

LEGO 2K Drive developer Visual Concepts has confirmed to Screen Rant that custom vehicle design sharing is a feature already planned to be included in a post-launch update. Vehicles built by players will be shareable through the game's Creator's Hub. Screen Rant's original article about the lack of such a feature based on previews of LEGO 2K Drive continues below.

The open-world driving adventure LEGO 2K Drive is coming soon and looks as though it will be a lot of fun, although it appears to be missing one seemingly obvious feature that could have made it so much better. In this game, players can immerse themselves in the world of Bricklandia and race cars, boats, and more throughout this open world. Full of all the humor one would expect from LEGO, LEGO 2K Drive features silly side quests and minigames as well as racing challenges.

Previews of LEGO 2K Drive show that while the game is a quality racing game in its own right, it still holds true to its LEGO roots by allowing players to use LEGO bricks to either alter existing vehicles or build creations of their own in the garage. With over 1,000 pieces to choose from, this digital LEGO experience still encourages the use of imagination, yet it easily could be taken one step further.

LEGO 2K Drive Should Allow Sharing Of Builds With Other Players

The creative side of LEGO 2K Drive encourages people to build their own cars, boats, and off-road vehicles and is a fun way to bring more tactile memories of building with LEGO bricks into this video game. With the online multiplayer mode allowing up to six players to either race competitively or enter a world co-operatively, it seems a missed opportunity for LEGO 2K Drive to not include a way to upload player-designed creations for others to download.

Building Is Inherent In LEGO Games, Uploading Creations Would Make It More Fun

Though the main objective of LEGO 2K Drive may be to win the coveted Sky Cup Grand Prix crown, LEGO fans know that snapping bricks together to construct epic creations of their own imaginations is just as important, if not more so. Being able to show off these custom builds would add another level of fun and connection to other players in the game. LEGO 2K Drive so far has not made it clear if players can bring their creations into the multiplayer games of friends, but there is no way at present to share these vehicles. This oversight may, hopefully, be corrected in the future, but currently, it is not possible.

Even though the ability to share with friends doesn't exist, yet, LEGO 2K Drive still looks to be an incredibly fun racing game in the world of LEGO's Bricklandia. Exploring the landscape with various biomes and breakable decorations, seeing what the Story mode has to offer, and trying to win first place in tournaments all show that LEGO 2K Drive developers have put a lot of work into creating the best LEGO driving experience that they could. LEGO 2K Drive is currently available for pre-order and will release for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S consoles on May 19, 2023.
