Following his introduction in the season 7 finale, Legends of Tomorrow season 8 will give Booster Gold his iconic costume, according to the showrunner. The Arrowverse recently added another major DC Comics hero, this time on Legends of Tomorrow. After massive speculation following his casting announcement, Scrubs' Donald Faison was revealed to be none other than Michael Jon Carter, a.k.a. Booster Gold. Faison made his arrival during the season 7 closer where he encountered the beloved Legends before having to turn on them in the final moments. Despite having only a few scenes, Booster Gold's arrival still sparked massive buzz.

While it took several years for the Arrowverse to finally get access to the Booster Gold character, it remains to be seen if fans will get to see him again next year. Currently, Legends of Tomorrow is one of several shows that The CW has yet to renew. Due to the WarnerMedia/Paramount-owned network being up for sales, it has put a delay on renewals and cancelations for The CW. Despite being seven seasons in, Legends of Tomorrow is currently one of the two Arrowverse shows that are on the bubble in terms of its renewal chances.

Should Legends of Tomorrow season 8 get greenlit, Faison is already attached to be a series regular. While Booster Gold didn't sport his famous costume, fans have no reason to worry as that will be part of the eighth potential season. In an interview with ComicBook, Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer went into depth about Booster Gold's Arrowverse debut and his future. While discussing Faison's appearance, Klemmer reassured viewers that if the show comes back for an eighth season, Booster Gold will be getting his costume, stating the following:

"Even though many of our fans have already guessed the identity of Donald Faison's character (even before the airing of the finale), we wanted to hold off on the name Booster Gold until the end of the episode. That was one reason to hold back on the suit. The other was logistics. It takes forever to design such a costume, and we were in the final Season 7 sprint when Donald joined the show. Finally, if and when Booster does get his costume in Season 8, it seems worthy of an entire story or perhaps stories."

While it's understandable that viewers probably wanted to see Booster Gold in his iconic uniform, it also makes sense why they're waiting with it. From a creative standpoint, it seems like the Arrowverse's iteration of the futuristic hero has only just begun his adventure. Looking at it from a production POV, it would make no sense to do a costume if they don't even know if Legends of Tomorrow season 8 will be a thing. One of the most expensive aspects of the Arrowverse shows is those costumes, which take a lot of time and resources to adapt from page to screen.

There are so far very few details of what Legends of Tomorrow season 8 would look like if it were to happen. The finale saw the Legends get arrested by the Time police after their many timeline violations, with that organization likely serving as their next big bad. Aside from Faison's Booster Gold being part of it, Legends of Tomorrow season 8 will have one less familiar face as Nick Zano's Nate Heywood has exited the Arrowverse drama. With The CW upfronts happening on May 19, Legends of Tomorrow viewers will just have to be a bit more patient to find out about the show's future.
