Dinosaurs were the highlight in the new trailer for season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow that was released at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. The trailer gives fans a look at the cast in action, but also previews new characters.

This season will focus on the Legends as they try to repair the mistakes of the season 2 finale, which saw the crew interacting with their past selves in order to stop the Legion of Doom from using the Spear of Destiny. The paradox created enormous time anomalies that resulted in time periods colliding with each other. The Legends will now have to clean up their own mess.

The trailer begins with the cliffhanger from season 2 of the Waverider crashing into a city filled with dinosaurs. We can hear Sarah say that they had "broke time." The statement doesn't seem far from the truth, as we're shown a number of temporal disturbances that the characters will be faced with over the course of the season, including clowns and a saber-tooth tiger. We can also see Ray raise the American flag on the moon, Amaya bond with a T-Rex, and Nate get hit by a train.

Legends of Tomorrow Poster

The main characters from the previous season all return, including Rip, who is said to have a secret. It's already been reported that although Rip won't be a villain, he will be at odds with the team over their methods, and will now have a team of his own.

The trailer also provides fans with clues about what new characters will be featured in the upcoming season. A character named "Kuasa" is mentioned, who happens to exist in the Arrowverse but has only appeared in the animated series, Vixen. As the sister of the modern-day Vixen, this makes Kuasa the granddaughter of Amaya. Unlike the two Vixens, Kuasa is a villain.

In a blink-and-you-missed-it moment, a character resembling another DC Comics superhero appears in the trailer: B'wana Beast, a hero who can telepathically control animals and fuse them together.

During the panel, it was revealed to the audience that Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) would be returning to the show. Darhk will be "scarier than ever" and Snart would be back on the Waverider, though there's no confirmation that he'll be back as a regular, or how he will return to the series after his death in season 1.
