Matt Ryan’s Constantine will be back for The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale. Fans have been clamoring for more Constantine since the character made a guest-starring appearance during the show’s 2018 midseason premiere.
For the Arrowverse, 2018 could be the year of Constantine. Following the cancellation of his NBC series, Constantine’s future was left in limbo until the character made his Arrowverse debut in Arrow season 4 as an old acquaintance of Oliver Queen. Constantine will soon to receive his own animated series, which will actually be darker than his live-action show. Fans of the chain-smoking supernatural detective rejoiced when it was announced that he would also be making an appearance in Legends of Tomorrow season 3.
EW reports that Constantine will return for the season finale, “The Good, The Bad, And The Cuddly”. Constantine’s return in season 3 was first rumored when a set photo taken by Nick Zano appeared to include Constantine actor Matt Ryan. This will actually be Constantine’s third episode of the season, as he is also slated to appear in the 15th episode. Titled “Necromancing the Stone”, the episode will also feature Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) in her first Arrowverse appearance outside of The Flash.
Constantine won’t be the only Arrowverse hero visiting the Waverider in the season 3 finale. Fans can also expect to see the return of Western outlaw Jonah Hex (Johnathon Schaech) and former team member Jax (Franz Drameh), who left the series in the midseason finale. Considering the number of heroes appearing in a single episode, we can infer that the Legends will need every ounce of power they can muster to defeat the evil Mallus (voiced by John Noble) and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).
Keeping in mind the nature of their enemy, Constantine’s involvement makes perfect sense. His expertise in demonology could make him an important ally when it comes to stopping Mallus and Darhk. It’s also possible that his warning to Ray (Brandon Routh) will play out in the season finale. Constantine told Ray that he would have to kill Sara (Caity Lotz) if Mallus took complete control of her. If Ray isn’t able to go through with it, Constantine may take it upon himself to kill Sara.
Legends of Tomorrow continues with “No Country for Old Dads” on Monday, March 5 at 9pm ET on The CW.
