The Flash season 3 and Arrow season 5 have now begun airing on The CW. The other new seasons of Greg Berlanti's Arrowverse will soon follow, with Supergirl season 2 arriving Monday, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 completing DC's Fall roll out on Thursday. Not only is Supergirl joining The CW's crop of DC superheroes exciting news, but The Flash is now adapting the popular "Flashpoint" story arc - which has now started to unfold. It was also announced that the four shows will unite for an unprecedented massive crossover featuring characters from each series uniting to face a common threat over the year ahead - namely, the Dominators.
The excitement, however does not end there. After ending on a cliffhanger that introduced Rex Tyler (Patrick J. Adams) in season 1, Legends of Tomorrow was confirmed to be including its own versions of the Justice Society of America - as well as antagonists organization, the Legion of Doom. And while we have seen some images teasing the JSA, Legion of Doom, and the massive Arrowverse crossover, we have thus far seen no footage. Until now.
The CW has now dropped an extended trailer (above) for Legends of Tomorrow season 2, showing not only the team traveling through time to meet the Justice Society of America, but also includes a few shots of Supergirl, The Flash, and JSA member, Vixen, together.
Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow had its ups and downs, with most fans praising the action sequences, funny dialogue, and visuals, with others complaining about one-off episodes and a stale portrayal of Vandal Savage. However, there is little doubt that the first season picked up as it progressed, and from the looks of this trailer, Legends of Tomorrow will be incorporating a lot of the good elements from last season into the upcoming one. The extended video highlights stunning action sequences, that incorporate samurai, civil war zombies, and dinosaurs. And there looks to be plenty of humor as well with Dr. Stein knocking out Albert Einstein, Sara Lance seducing the Queen of France, and a Chuck Norris reference for good measure.
While the above is all exciting, the clear standout of the trailer is the inclusion of the Justice Society of America, Supergirl, and several members of the Legion of Doom. It also looks like Hourman will go face to face with Reverse-Flash, and Thawne and Darhk will be uniting in Nazi Germany. And then, there is the crossover tease, which includes Supergirl, Flash, and Green Arrow, all intercut with a voice message from a 2056 version of Barry Allen. While it is too early to tell exactly how all this will unfold, one thing is clear: The CW is holding nothing back with season 2 of Legends of Tomorrow.
The Flash season 3 airs Tuesdays at 8pm on The CW; Arrow season 5 airs in the same timeslot on Wednesdays; Supergirl season 2 premieres on Monday October 10th, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 debuts on Thursday October 13th.
