[SPOILERS for those not caught up on Legends of Tomorrow ahead.]

-

Jefferson (Franz Drameh) and Martin (Victor Garber) will inadvertently switch bodies during their efforts to separate as Firestorm, next week on Legends of Tomorrow season 3. The writing has been on the wall for "Team Firestorm" ever since the announcement that Garber is leaving Legends of Tomorrow, in order to star in a Broadway revival of the musical Hello, Dolly! early next year. That means that somehow, Jefferson and Martin must sever their psychic link and find a way for the former to maintain his nuclear superpowers without having the latter around to help lighten the load.

Despite Jefferson and Ray's (Brandon Routh) best attempts to do just that during this week's episode, 'Return of the Mack', they mostly succeeded in reducing Jefferson's short-term memory and not much else - before Martin figured out what they were up to and (eventually) agreed to help. While the trailer for next week's Legends of Tomorrow episode, titled 'Helen Hunt', focuses solely on that Firestorm plot thread, the episode's full synopsis reveals where and when the Legends find themselves next, in the meantime.

The trailer for 'Helen Hunt' (see the video above) doesn't reveal much about the episode, beyond the Freak Friday situation that Jefferson and Martin find themselves in; complete with the expected jokes based around the significant age difference between the pair. According to the episode's plot summary, however, 'Helen Hunt' follows the Legends on a mission to 1930s-era Hollywood, where they discover an anachronism in the form of the real Helen of Troy (guest star Bar Paly) - who, of course, has somehow managed to start a war between rival film studios that the Legends must now stop, before returning Helen to the Bronze Age.

Further complicating matters is the appearance of a "former enemy", which could be a reference to someone from the Time Bureau (or something else altogether - the Legends have a lot of "former enemies" at this point). In addition to all that, the 'Helen Hunt' synopsis teases that Sara (Caity Lotz) will be made mulling over an unexpected offer that would "make the Legends leave the anachronisms be."

Guilt has been the big motivating factor for Sara thus far this season, seeing as it was ultimately her call as the Waverider's captain that gave rise to the anachronisms in the first place. It's possible that with everything else going on now - including, the resurrection of Damien Darkh (Neal McDonough) and the emergence of this season's big bad Mallus (John Noble) - Sara will be inclined to agree to such a deal, as she continues to settle into her responsibilities as the Legends' leader. Then again, she might not for the very same reasons.

All things considered, 'Helen Hunt' looks to provide the same mix of silly time-travel shenanigans and cheesy humor, plus a dose of more meaningful character drama, that Legends of Tomorrow has been serving up all season long, to positive effect. Martin's actual departure from the show should make for one of its more bittersweet moments to date, but it doesn't sound like that will happen in this episode - and if it does, then at least Drameh and Garber will get a chance to do their best impressions of one another first.
