Legends of Tomorrow: First Look at Hawkman & Hawkgirl Costumes

Hawkman and Hawkgirl in DC's Legends of Tomorrow Header

After CW's Arrow gave rise to The Flashthat acclaimed DC superhero series in turn gave rise to Legends of Tomorrow, the upcoming CW series that pulls supporting characters from both Arrow and The Flash and combines them with some new recruits on a team of heroes (and a couple villains) who will hop through time, trying to protect the timestream from manipulation.

The team consists of figures like Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), the resurrected "White Canary" Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Professor Martin Stein/Firestorm (Victor Garber), and villain duo Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). However, the real intrigue has surrounded new additions like time guardian Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel), iconic heroes who will soon be making their debut in the DC TV Multiverse.

Today, we get our very first looks at the new Hakman/Hawkgirl costumes; see the full photo below.

The immediate observations that jump out to mind are such: The costumes look like they definitely fit in step with the general aesthetic of CW's DC TV shows; the dark leather in signature colors will look fitting standing alongside Grant Gustin's Flash or Stephen Amell's Arrow in a team situation.

However, there's one big "IF" factor that this photo fails to address: the wings.

Hawkman Hawkgirl CW Universe

Hawkman and Hawkgirl of course need their signature wings, and the initial Legends of Tomorrow promo trailer suggested that CGI will be the way the showrunners get around that issue. With Hawkman coming to both Arrow and The Flash first, there should be plenty of time to "tweak" the wing effects to the point where they're both doable on a TV budget and passable for viewers. We suggest many wide shots of takeoff and landings; skip the "in-flight" shots.
