Warning: the following contains spoilers for Earth-Prime: Legends of Tomorrow #3!

The third issue of DC Comics' Earth-Prime miniseries confirms a number of facts regarding the Legends of Tomorrow and the future of the Arrowverse continuity. Ironically, this story comes at a time when the future of the Legends of Tomorrow TV series itself is largely in doubt, following the show's sudden cancellation by the CW network. Despite this, a massive fan effort has mobilized on social media, hoping to see the show return in some form on HBO Max.

Earth-Prime: Legends of Tomorrow #3 provides some closure regarding the cliffhanger ending of Legends of Tomorrow season 7. The comic's main story concludes with a flash-forward to Star City 2049, where several of the retired Legends get together for a drink while reminiscing over their glory days. This group includes a visibly older Sara Lance, confirming that she escaped to fight another day following the Legends' arrest in Legends of Tomorrow's season 7 finale.

The story doesn't reveal the fate of the rest of the Legends, but it does establish a number of interesting facts regarding other Arrowverse heroes. Chief among these is the fact that Wally West continued to go by the codename Kid Flash, even when he was well into adulthood. Kara Zor-El continued to go by Supergirl and Kendra Saunders remained Hawkgirl, even as the daughter she had with Hawkman Carter Hall prepares to become a superhero using the name Hawkwoman. The issue is written by Legends of Tomorrow writers Daniel Park and Lauren Fields, with art by Paul Pelletier, Andrew Hennessy, and Adriano Lucas.

Legends of Tomorrow Reveals Secrets of the Arrowverse's Future

Surprisingly, not all of the Legends' children followed in their parents' footsteps. Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, formerly one-half of Firestorm, brags that his daughter Martina is "basically running STAR Labs." Mick "Heat Wave" Rory is similarly quick to state that children don't have to be like their parents, and that he's disturbed by how many superheroes seem to be pushing their kids into the family business. Despite this, he proudly notes that none of his 49 children became bank robbers like their old man, although ten of them did become best-selling novelists like he did, under the pen name Rebecca Silver.

The story doesn't reveal the destiny of Ray Palmer's child with Nora Darhk, or if Sara Lance's child became a superhero. The story does seem to tease this, with the first Canary noting there are three Canaries running around the Arrowverse future of 2049, although this could refer to herself, Dinah Drake and the Laurel Lance of Earth-2 from Green Arrow and the Canaries.

While the  heroes' trials and tribulations continue, Earth-1: Legends of Tomorrow broadly predicts a positive future for the Arrowverse's beloved heroes, even as it adds a major new villain to the wider continuity. Legends of Tomorrow season 7 cliffhanger may never be fully resolved, but fans can take comfort in knowing that the team seems to have secured a happy ending.
